Does BMW still give the 1 yr oil change and anyone have BMS oil can DIY?
I have two questions as above.
I remember reading a few month ago that BMW had changed their policy on the low mileage 1 year old change to strictly mileage, but then read some posts about them going back to the old system that includes or 1 years time. Also, anyone have a DIY for the BMS oil can install? I tried searching in the DIY and the Burger site. Thanks.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I've been given the 1yr oil change due to low mileage -- they are strict about it though. I was in a week early and they asked me to come back after the exact 12mo mark.

Were these changes this year?
Long Beach BMW just sent me a letter saying it's been a year and if I have less than 6,000 miles, I'm due for an oil change???

Bought a 2009 executive CPO car in 5/2010 with 4000 mi on it - the dealer actually called me to schedule appointment for free oil change & brake flush at the beginning of this month. I only put 7000 mi on the car since I bought it and time wise it's only been 10 months?
After checking the Service Reminder on the dash I do see that both the icons for Brake Service and Oil Change are up with a date showing 2/2011. Guess I was kinda remiss in not paying attention - but I thought I would have to wait at least a year... Could be that they did the 1st service on the car when it was turned in @ end of 1 yr (executives have to turn car in @ end of 1 yr) and it sat on the lot for 3 months before I bought it.

My car is almost one year and the oil change due is like 6 more months, the dealer never call me or send me a letter. I already paid for oil change twice by myself.

Seems to be a great disparity in what different dealers do regarding this...

The policy was briefly changed last year to permit low mileage changes only on cars with less than 6000 miles/year. However, within 3 months, BMWNA reversed this decision and reinstated the original policy which states regardless of mileage, you can get an annual low mileage oil change even if the CBS doesn't indicate it is required. Most dealers will let you schedule this change within the 3 week period prior to the year anniversary date.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to call my dealer and schedule an appointment. I only have 7,000 miles the last year since the wife stopped working, and would have been pissed had not been able to get a change.

I did my own 1400 mile oil change. They did my first annual oil change in August 2010 @6000 miles. They did another oil change 2 weeks ago at 18 months @7700 miles.
