Some particles decay quickly others like plutonium has a half-life of 24,000 years. It is very expensive and takes a long time to clean up an entire town.

Oh I am aware of the consequences of containment leaks... but this is no Chernobyl.

Actually, some have said it could be worse due to all the spent fuel rods stored above reactors.

Where do you get your news from, as a matter of fact I believe the media is doing the opposite and not telling us the real situation.
