Is it worth that much ?
Evening All,
Does anyone have any good knowledge of this ? http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/owner/acc...156___,00.html Does the additional radiator and 850watt fan works same like fmic ? Is it worth the money or not, any idea of the real power gain in hp on the wheels ? Thanks |

If you want to keep your warranty - including an extended one - then its the only way to go.
Piece of mind - that's what you're paying for. I'm sure it works well, seems to give a similar output to the 335si motor? Is that price fitted or plus fitting? |

What do you mean it gives output of the 335si motor ? Neil, not a technical person at all so would you please explain what fmic is for then ? I dont think it comes with an uprated alternator as it wasn't in the list of the parts but if anything related goes wrong because of the fan then I believe it should be covered. |

I went the 'cheap' option paid £500 for an evolve switch, I nearly ended up paying a £1000 bill last week as they discovered it had been mapped (I was very lucky and am fortunate enough to be morally bereft). Dont forget just £200 in parts with 4-5 hours labour plus vat is a 1k bill at the dealers. |

If you do go down the BW perf kit route, you may be able to order parts cheaper and get it fitted elsewhere.
I know Birds offer this but dont know how much cheaper it would be |

No idea, wasn't found by the techs at the dealers, all they could tell me was every time they plug in diagnostic tools to our cars it uploads info to BMW Germany so they think it was discovered by their techs.

An intercooler is for an entirely different purpose. On forced induction engines air that is supplied for combustion is compressed by either a turbo or supercharger . This generates heat, not to mention the fact that a turbo is powered by extremely hot exhaust gases. This means the supply air into the engine would be hot. This is not ideal as hot gases are less dense compared to if they were cooler/cold. You want the supply air to be as cold (therefore dense) as possible because it means you get more oxygen molecules per unit volume of air into the cylinders. The more oxygen you have the more efficient the combustion of fuel will be, leading to more power |
