replacing front bumper
So my front bumper is a little messed up. One fog light mount isbroken so one fog is out of place, part of the underside of the bumper has been deformed because it got caught on something as I was pulling out of a parking spot, and the paint is cracked on one side.
I'm getting a replacement oem stock bumper because replacing the bumper and getting the current one fixed (without fixing the cracked paint) comes to the about the same price. So heres my questions (I'm just asking this for peace of mind cause I don't want any problems because I'm already busy enough with other stuff right now ![]() 1)Will the replacement bumper go on fine since its the same thing? The only difference is that the replacement one does not have a spot for headlight washer covers but mine does even though I don't have headlight washers. Also does it matter if I get a pdc one? I don't have pdc but if I were to get one (incase its cheaper) it would still fit fine right? 2) Can I reuse the mesh at the bottom of the bumper right? I mean take it off my current bumper and put it on the new one? I'm guessing yes but its just a peace of mind question. Thanks a lot of anyone who can help, I would search more for the answers myself but like I said I'm just really busy with classes and family stuff at the moment. |

Upgrading to an m3 style bumper was actually my first choice but its not something that can happen at the moment. Getting a m3 bumper and having it painted and installed is a lot more expensive than getting an alpine white stock bumper in decent condition and just installing it. Thanks for the input though but im just looking to replace my current one with a stock one for now.

the headlight washer issue doesn't matter. i think originally the bumpers didn't have that raised area where the washers go, but later on in prelci they added that to the standard bumper even if you didn't have that option. if you don't have pdc, there will be holes where the pdc sensors go. i believe they come already punched out, but i'm not sure--you should ask evan@tischer. if you mind having random holes in your bumper...then just get the regular nonpdc one. fyi pdc bumper primed cost more than nonpdc 2. yes you can reuse the mesh and everything else that isn't damaged.

Resurrecting this thread for a quick related question: I have a 2007 (pre-LCI) E93 335, Alpine White, non PDC, oil cooler. I have some front bumper scuffs (no damage other than paint) and I was quoted $650 to repaint it. I was thinking about replacing it with a more sporty (LCI? M-Tech?) but I'm not sure how much trouble that would be.
Are there any sportier bumpers that are pure bolt-on replacements? I don't want to have to start replacing other parts like fog lights or grills. I also need to make sure I have a duct for the oil cooler, as I hear that's been a problem with some aftermarket bumpers??? By the way, are E92 and E93 bumpers the same? Can anybody give me some pointers and recommendations? Thanks!

Find a better shop before you look at replacing it. That's a F'ing ripoff at $650. Removal, paint and installation shouldn't be more than $400. You can't get a new one painted for less than that.

Yes, I think I can get it painted cheaper, but I'm also interested in a more aggressive look, so no matter which bumper I get, it will need to be painted, and I'll find a cheaper paint shop.
