Exclamation Temperature not peaking. Is this normal?

Prior to Procede install, average temp's ranged between 240-250 Degrees F at 70 Degree outside temperature.

Re-installed the Procede today after the service visit at the dealer, and in the 90 Degree outside temperature, the engine is only hitting 220-230 Degrees F after over 20minutes of driving.

I sliced the vacuum line accidentally while re-installing the coupler, but trimmed it past the slice and re-installed it before I ran the car. I then replaced the entire line with an OEM vacuum line and still am having the issue. Can it be I'm not hitting full boost or something of that nature? Can there be a leak somewhere? The car seems to pull fine, but then again I don't know if I'm getting full power of it.

Shiv or anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks

I'm not following. Is the only problem you are seeing is that your temps are a little lower than they were before? Car runs fine?

Wait a second... your car runs at a little lower (safer) temp now but still seems to be fine?

My two cents: Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Yea pretty much..

I re-installed the Procede last night at around 2am (was really impatient) and took it for a drive afterwards. Parked and went to sleep.

Today got up to run some errands, popped the hood to look at my installation and noticed one of the vacuum lines completely disconnected, after examing it I noticed that there was a tear in the line, so I assumed I must of accidentally teared the line last night while pulling it out of its stock position. I improvised and cut the line a bit past the slice, installed it back and went to the parts department to get a new line. Cut that to the proper length, installed it and both times, temps were below what they have been (driving on the way to the dealer with the shortened line and the way back with the new proper line)

To add to all of this, temps outside were above 90 Degrees so I would expect the car to run a lot hotter than what it used to in 70 Degree weather.

Does that make any sense? Lol.

BTW, is there a way to check if I'm hitting max boost with a laptop connected via serial/data logger?

Thanks for the prompt response Shiv. Procede is awesome nonetheless

Haha yeah.. It just seems odd that temps would run LOWER than before when the outside temperature has increased by over 20 Degrees. That why I'm thinking maybe there is a leak somewhere, meaning less boost, meaning less heat? (Complete guess as I have no real idea how more/less boost corresponds with heat etc)

If there was a boost leak, you'd get a CEL. So no need to worry about that. Just enjoy your car.

I see what you are saying. I had a similar experience with a car I had FI'd. For some reason it ran a tad on the lean side forever. One day I removed the fuel pressure regulator and put it back in the exact same way it was installed. I started the car and AFR's were reading about .3 - .5 lower all the way through the rpm band.

I could never explain it. But the car ran great and I keep in touch with the new owner and he brags to me all the time about how great it still runs.

In your case, 240-250 running temp seems high, at least compared to my own car. What you are experiencing now seem like normal temps.

I went in for a rough idle, they said it was because of the fan turning on. Never even left it there

I dont know about your car but mine runs ALOT (20-30 deg) cooler dispite outside temps being around 100 when THE AC IS ON and the extra fans are running.

Bingo... With the A/C on the cooling fans are typically commanded on constantly except when at speed.

its almost reaching 80 here right now....my temps idling in traffic with the windows down was around 230-240. I let the car idle last night when it was 55 degrees outside, for almost 20 minutes while talking to a friend. Gauge never went past 230.

Cruising around with the A/C on, im seeing temps of 220-230. Even with teh A/C core getting hot passing all the hot air into the radiator, temps were still nice and steady.

I think today was the first day I had the a/c on for more than 10 minutes

Remember that the cooling system has several computer controlled modes, it is not just a thermostat. It may be that the outside temp is high enough to engage a different mode, thus the lower temps.
