Alot of people run E85 in Sti's and Evo's and such, but to properly gain power out of E85 you have to push more fuel. That's why those that run E85 on other platforms almost always upgrade their injectors and fuel pump.
Because gallon for gallon E85 has less energy content than Gasoline, but with a higher octane rating. So to see any gains with higher boost you need to run more fuel E85 than gasoline and as far as I know there's no upgadable pumps or injector's for the N54 or N55. |

At this point with the tuning available, most people who are running e85 run lower ratios of it to simply bump up 91 octane gas to 93-94 octane, any higher ratios than a few gallons per tank and you start seeing codes thrown and lean conditions, check out the thread on n54tech

Our fuel pump issues come from too much e85 on our regular gas! I think is about 10%. I was very interested on this as well but I don't think is going to be possible for awhile, or at least until some company makes a better fuel system and injectors.

Without a fuel solution currently, 430-450WHP is the maximum power to be had.
Since e85 requires ~15%+ more fuel to make the same power you would likely be limited on even less power. I think the HPFP saga is over in regards to using high ethanol content as the causes of failure. Eitherway I dont think E85 would be a good solution for the most power given it requires more fuel to make the same HP. When there is a fuel limit lift then we can see E85 possible being beneficial to ward of knock for high HP cars. My .02. |
