New 2011 335xi Coupe on Monday, Tires?
Hi All,
Been watching here for a while. You folks are an amazing crowd. Pickuping up new 2011 335xi Coupe on Monday!!! Space Grey, Coral Red 6sp, Msport, Convenience, Premium, Nav, Sat Radio, HK Audio... My last 5 BMW's were 5 series The last was a 2008 535xi 6sp. Once I got a tatse of the awd, will never go back. Unfortunately, no more 6sp in a 5er awd car! Show stopper for me. Looked at an Audi S5, but the 335xi got my vote. The rft are coming off at the dealer, putting on Blizzaks on my old wheels (from 535xi). (still winter here) But, I will need to replace the summer tires in April. Any suggestions? Thanks, Martin 1992 528i MT 1996 530i MT 2000 540i MT 2004 545i MT 2008 535xi MT |

You might want to actually try to drive your car with those RFT's before pitching them. BMW made changes to the suspension for 2011 and the RFT's actually ride quite well now. That, coupled with newer RFT technology has really made a great improvement from the RFT's of old. I personally see no reason to ditch the RFT's anymore. Just my $.02...

However, as I will put 60,000+ miles on a three year lease and I have to return the car with rft's. My plan is to get most of my miles on the non rft's (and the snows) and return with the oem rfts's... |

I think you should give those RFTs a chance first... About non-RFT summer tires, I just replaced my worn RFTs (lasted 62k miles) with NITTO NT555 extreme performance. I'm really happy with the performance of these tires, there is so much grip!! However it did change the handling of the car. It feels as if you installed softer suspension. Probably because the RFTs have reinforced sides anyway you won't feel it unless you drive fast through corners. I'm already considering Sports suspension... |

Yes, I do drive fast through corners (or try to). I replaced the rft's on my 2008 535xi at 50k with Potenza RE050A's. The overall improvement was dramatic. Road feedback at limits was must more predictable, ride quality was more comfortable (not softer, just not as jolting). And grip was amazing. But, I will try the rft's on my new 335xi in the spring. |

RFT on a new 335xi Coupe
Hi All,
I assume that this thread has been well beaten over the past few years, but you never know... New 335xi Coupe, Took collective forum advice and have given the factory rft summer tires a 1,000 mile trial. (on 18" 193m Wheels) In a word: No way. Like driving on bricks. I wouldn't doubt that on a skid pad they would really pull g's; but in the real world they track road grooves and seem to wander. No confidence in the corners. I actually prefer the Blizzaks on my 17" Winter Wheels! (First 1500 miles) So, any advice on replacements? THANKS! |

Isn't The DWS an all-season tire?
As I drive on Blizzaks in the Winter, a pure Summer tire is preferred. What do you think of the DW? Regards, Martin 1992 528i MT 1996 530i MT 2000 540i MT 2004 545i MT 2008 535xi MT |
