HPFP/Injector Recall Work
Just wanted to get some second opinions on whether to bring my car in for some recall work tomorrow. Here's my situation:
I have an early build 07 E92 with 36k miles on it, and have no sign of a failing fuel pump yet. After talking to my SA, of course they want me to come in and have my HPFP and injectors replaced along with a software update. I've always gone with the philosophy that if it ain't broke don't fix it. The only concern is that I'm feeling some misfires periodically (most noticeably in 3rd gear for some reason), so new injectors couldn't hurt, although not a for sure fix.. Try and have them only do injectors/software? Cancel the servicing, and tell them I'll see them when their shitty fuel pumps start crapping out? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I would get it done just to have the new parts and for sure qualify for the 120k miles on those parts or at least the hpfp. They wont be able to say deny future warranty work, since you went with the recall procedure. just my opinion though..

I just had my recall service done a week ago or so.
New Pump, 2 injectors and software update Regret it now. Car takes longer to start and the idle is not smooth when the engine is cold. I thought the update was supposed to fix those issues - not create them! I am sure I will have to take the car back for the lousy idle....just waiting for it to throw a code. |

Since you are in Cali and the recall is emissions related they can flag you vin preventing you from registering it. Right on the recall letter second page. I would check that out before cancelling the appointment. I had it done no issues yet with HPFP but had an injector they did not replace fail, they broke a fuel rail bolt (who know how SA told me it broke in the techs hand Kung Fu grip I guess) and SES light the second time with a mile of dealership. So the least of my problems was the HPFP, the incompetent dealership is more of an issue for me.

Depending on how many miles you have, your valves are probably carboned up so Injectors may or may not be the issue.

get it all done, and demand it to, if its a recall. I had them check everythting and they said it was more than ok. and my injectors and hpfp failed on me.
My injectors fauled my plugs, so i had to replace those to |

Only thing that bugs me is that they won't work on my damn squeaky back wheels. It's a known problem with e92s, but they wont touch it because I dropped the car. Can't see how that makes much sense...

I got the HPFP recall done a few weeks ago very hesitantly. I had my original HPFP for 43k miles, never one long start. I told my SA i was very wary of fixing something that isn't broken, but he assured me that the new pump was good and that he had done 1000s and hasn't had one come back. So I get the new pump and new software (was pre29.2) and lo and behold I get long cranks every other day. I am going to raise hell if this thing fails on me.

Mine is currently in the shop for the HPFP recall and Squeaking in the front and back.
Ive had no issues at all so far (10k miles) except for a few hiccups on idle once in a while. Likewise, if I see any degraded performance after the so called fix I will definitely raise hell. |

Is the HPFP warranted to 120k Miles?
I am bringing my car in for the recall tomorrow as well, but I was going to tell them to not replace the HPFP, I figure since it is a recall I can get it replace when mine does eventually fail, since my warranty is almost out... thanks |

can't speak to the intercooler, but i went in with DPs, exhaust, and DCI and didn't hear any grief for it. feel it out with your SA though, and see what they say.

Just had my fuel pump, all six injectors, and software updated on my 2007 e92. The car still had the original software from the April 20007 build date. After the update, I could not tell any difference. No more lag than the original software. Runs great!
