question about m tech bumper

Hey guys,
just got a mtech bumper and duke dynamics quad exhaust installed on my 07 e90 335. I noticed that in the space between the diffuser and the bumper, there are 2 holes there. I asked why are there two holes in this space? They said they think there suppose to be some kind of garnish or piece i need to buy to put there. Im not sure if the space is actually the m tech bumper or if its the diffuser. I attached a couple pics of cars with similar holes in the space. What's suppose to go there? thanks guys.

You need part #: 51 12 8 040 152. It's a cover strip.

This is my understanding of the M-tech kit. It only comes in a full package, i.e. front bumper, side skirts, back bumper, + the necessary trims and hardwares (except in Canada, for some reason we don't have the rear diffuser included). I know Tischer sells the 3 separate sections in their own individual packages, but I think they just source the necessary parts together to make the package, i.e. the front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper packages sold by them are not 'OEM packages' in the strictest of terms; if you just want to retrofit the rear m-tech bumper, you'd have to buy the bumper, the new bumper guides, the cover strip, diffuser from your dealership (or whatever source you order from). This brings me to my next question, it's kind of disconcerting hearing that your bodyshop thinks "there suppose to be some kind of garnish or piece i need to buy to put there", if I were you I'd make sure that they'd ordered the new bumper guides for you.

For reference, here are pictures of the trim from ssm12's DIY thread:

Thanks guys,

I just ordered the M sides and rear bumper yesterday. I have a '07 335i E93. I'm in Vancouver and was able to order the parts separate from the kit. I happened to read this and sent an email this morning to confirm all parts were ordered. I'll let you know, but again thanks. I really didn't care for the M front bumper. I'm thinking about picking up the M3 replica bumper instead from Bimmian. Pics to follow.

It works out cheaper if you buy the whole kit, then part out the front to someone locally. It's cheaper to buy the whole kit vs ordering the parts separately on their own. But it's your call, there's time and energy involved in selling the part(s) on your own.

I would at least call your dealership to compare the price of the whole kit, vs. what you're paying for the sides and the rear bumper. You could probably part out the front for $800CAD. It's selling for 1050 USD from Tischer.

Thanks for the info, but it's too late I pulled the trigger. Getting the front home would be a problem. Good info though, and I always appreciate that. I'm a little spooked the part guy has forgotten other things. He did forget to order the diffuser! Cheers to Canuklion!

You're welcome Kev.

These are the parts you need for the rear M-Sport bumper for your E93.

There is a black plastic trim piece that is applied with double-sided tape, and I believe is included with the MTech kit. I never installed mine because it is barely noticable and my diffuser will be replaced eventually (replacement still pending).
