Any of you guys hear this noise when starting up your car? Might have something to do with mine being a 6MT? I hear it everyday when i start it up, for as long as i can remember.

This is a video i made of my car on a cold start with AR Catless Downpipes, but at the beginning (9-10th second of the video) you can hear what sound im talking about, kind of a high pitched noise.

what could it be?

I was just about to make a similar thread. I hear that same sound only when I take off at low speed.

What does it sound like when you rev the car in park? Does it rattle like that too? Then it might be the wastegates....

Here is what my car sounds like on a low-speed take off. I'm in my garage so the sound is much amplified.

sounds like the exhaust flapper closing/opening....normal.

The reason I don't think it's wastegates is because it doesn't make that sound when I rev the car. All the vids on YouTube of wastegate rattle have the sound when they rev. I have neither the wastegate rattle nor the turbo siren sounds when the car is revved in park.

Try this test, find a median. Go into the left lane and roll your window down and play with light throttle pressures above 2500 rpm, if you hear the same noise, its your wastegates.

The rev down noise is only one case of wg rattle, there are many others.
Personally my car has horrible wg rattle when I accelerate, but when i simply rev it in nuetral, you can hardly tell.

Hmm i think i read about that somewhere,

but here's the thing, i realized i really only hear it on a Cold start up, first start up of the day, and i usually hear it after letting go of the clutch after starting the car.

When im driving i don't hear it at all, not once. But then again i have an intake, and the COBB tune seems to have made my exhaust louder so it would be hard to hear i assume, and now that i have the catless dp's even louder hah.

Does anyones 6MT rattle a lot when just engaging the clutch without putting gas? Like say if your trying to move forward a couple of feet and you just depress the clutch a little in 1st gear to get the car to roll forward slowly, my car rattles a lot when doing this for some reason hmm, maybe i should get a video. its a loud rattle as well, to the point where people standing outside could hear me too i bet.

what could it be?

It's your exhaust flapper. It closes when you start it up and then opens back up when the RPM's settle to about 650RPM. Poke your head under the car and look for the actuator on the left side pipe. Take a look while someone else starts the car. Mine does the same thing but it's a loud click.

Its the exhaust control valve (flap). Normal.

Didn't want to remove my DP's already and have to take it to the dealership so soon.

Yes my car does that with the flap plugged in too. Flap cant be closed without vacuum from a running engine first.

yep...in both vids....just unplug the connection from the trunk.

My car has a catback exhaust in this vid, so it's not the exhaust
