My Finishing Rods are FAKE!!
I have a 06, 323i e90 .. today tried to take out my finish rods to have them painted body color. Went at it for like 30 mins with no success... @#$%#^&*^*&^
I end up almost removing the bumper and took out the whole lower grill instead. Surprise Surprise .. the finish rods are FAKE!! Damn it.. it's one piece together with the grill meshes!! No clips!! See pics below. Anyone else have this?? Maybe need to add it to the DIY database.. Now I guess I'm just gonna remove them and have matte black metal mesh put in.. what do you guys think? Kit |

Yea.. I know.. I wanted to paint them cuz thought it'd be a easy mod. I've always wanted to do the delete and chane to mesh grill, but thought it'd be too big of a diy task. I guess now I have no choice!!

How is it 'fake'?
If you look at either realoem or bmwfans.info, your 323i is supposed to have bottom mesh grilles like that. http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E9..._bumper_front/ ^ in the illustration, you can see part 2 is what you have, while parts 3 and 7 are the regular finishing rods on higher-numeral models.
