Question for wheel studs and lug nuts and spacers
Hey guys
Sorry to come up with all these questions again, but just wanna make sure before I order. The normal or recommend wheel spec for E90 pre lci is ET 35 for front and ET 33 for rear? if my rear is ET 45 then i should probably need a 8mm wheel spacer to make it ET 37? And For the stud conversion, there are 2 types of lug nuts, open ended and close ended, and for each type of ending nuts, there will be different studs using? (meaning i cannot have 1 kind of studs and switch between open and close ended lug nuts?) and also, if im going to run a 8-10mm spacer in the back, then what size of the stud should i buy? and if in the winter i switch back to winter wheels and tires, and remove the spacer also, then the studs will stick out 8-10mm further from the wheels due to the removal of the 8-10mm wheels? and last question, if im not sure how far the studs will stick out from the wheels, then i should probably go with the opened end lug nuts? since if i go with close ended, then if the length is too long, then i cannot fasten the lug nuts? thanks guys sorry for so many questions~~ |

You're going to have to with open ended lug nuts, especially if you decide to run a spacer on the stud conversion. Closed ended lug nuts are not sized properly to be used on stud conversion kits on European cars, especially when spacers are being used as well. They original design of closed ended lug nuts are for use on those cars that have fixed sized wheel studs, such as Japanese cars.
If you are going to be using a spacer, you are going to need a stud conversion kit that is sized properly to accommodate the spacer. For example, on the 75mm stud kit that we carry, you can use up to 12mm spacer. On the 91mm stud conversion kit we carry, you can fit up to a 20mm spacer. If you have any further questions, drop me a PM or give me a call at the office. |
