Can I buy just the wastegate actuators?

Mine are acting up, do I have to buy to whole turbo assembly in order to get the wastegate actuators? Or can I buy just the actuators?

Where would be a good place to start looking?

TIA

Funny you mentioned that. I just picked rear one from a local dealer. Gonna try to replace it myself.

Does anyone have a link to the BMW TIS with the installation guidelines of the wastegate actuators. I believe their setup varies dependant on what altitude/area you live at..........just a heads up!

I thought all you need to do is to tighten the actuator rod instead of replacing them?
Mine are rattling as well.

Sometimes the rubber diaphragm inside disintegrates and wastegate is unable to close completely.

Ya, I'm gonna try to adjust it and see if it fixes that......If not, then I'll try to replace the actuators.....If that doesn't work, then I'll just get RB upgrade? lol

The rear actuator is pretty easy to adjust/replace. It's the front one that is a royal pain. The amount of labor required to get to it may be another reason to just do a full turbo upgrade

I just did the wastegate adjustment yesterday and it worked like a charm. I did have to make my own 'wrench' for the actuator rod though, since space is so limited and the size is so tiny.

I keep going back and forth on how long I intend to keep this car and if a turbo upgrade would be worth it for me...

UPDATE!!

It's fixed!! 99% of the wastegate rattling/ticking is gone!!

I had the shop adjust the actuator rod to tighten it, and in conjunction with Procede's Wastegate DC, which I lowered to 30%, and wahla!

On a side note, that means RB will have to wait, as I'm moving onto upgrading my crappy ZSP suspension.................

Turbo lag after the wastegate fix??

So I've been testing out my wastegates to see if they still rattle by going WOT and decelerating........

Well, everything ran fine, no ticking/rattling coming from anywhere that I can hear. But.......I did notice that it almost seem as if I have a turbo lag, could that have something to do with the wastegate actuator rod that I adjusted?

My car just feels a little different now.....although there's no more ticking/rattling.

We made 2 turns on the actuator rod to tighten it, and the WG DC% is at 30%......When it was at 60%, the rattle was still there, so I though the tightening didn't fix it.....lol

Anyone?

TIA

I'm not clear on the rules for posting links, so I'll just steal a quote from another forum:

Quote:
To adjust base wastegate position, you will adjust the Wastegate Position user adjustable. The default value is 90%. If your car has wastegate rattle during idle, light cruise and decceleration conditions, try reducing this value. Reducing this value, will move the wastegates more open during these conditions. At the mimimum value of 30%, wastegates will be fully open. Try to keep this value as high as possible in order to maximize initial tip-in boost response. If your car has no wastegate rattle, you can simply leave the default value of 90% unchanged.

Ya, I remember Shiv mentioning that initially, but with these newer maps, that's one of the things that has changed I believe.....

Now, it won't/shouldn't effect performance when lowered or raised........As long as you have a rattling issue, you may adjust the value accordingly of course.

Someone correct me if I remembered wrong.......

TIA

My wastegates rattle during acceleration. It's the actual flap that rattles, so I don't think new actuator will fix that Time for some RB turbos
