Thumbs up Rotor Recommendations

Okay so I know this has been discussed but I wanted some more up to date discussion

I am looking at new rotors, probably slotted and drilled or dimpled ... I have seen comments on Brake Performance Slotted & Dimpled, CQuence Slotted & Dimpled, ECS Slotted & Drilled, StopTech Slotted & Drilled, and BavAuto Slotted & Drilled

I am trying to determine Best Value v. Performance ... I am not trying to cheap out on brakes obviously but I am trying to determine if some are worth their cost v. others

I don't want to hear the drilled/dimpled aren't worth it or start that whole argument ... I would also consider any slotted rotor recommendations you have but I don't plan on spending more than $700 on all 4

I am going to be running these with CoolCarbons

I went through a similar decision process. I'm going with EBC BlackDash (dash slotted) rotors with Cool Carbon pads -- have the parts, just waiting for the current rotors/pads to be completely done. Has the benefits of slotting, without the deficits (noise, excessive pad wear); quality UK made blanks (not Chinese.)

Got a pretty sweet deal. $200 for the fronts, free ship (can be x on rotors - heavy) Yours would be more as you have a 335.

RacingBrake's 2 peice rotor. Best vaule for the money as they are half the price of BBK and cool just as well if not better.. Check out Mr. 5's review on them.

I would stick with either slotted or dimpled/slotted rather than drilled/slotted, so you don't compromise the strength or integrity of the rotor. Centric is the manufacturer for both StopTech and PowerSlot rotors, and is very reputable.

www.race-mart.com has excellent prices on the PowerSlot Cryo rotors...$536 for all 4, with free shipping. Or only $428 for a set of 4 of the regular PowerSlot rotors, not cryogenically treated. Or you could go with the EBC slotted/dimpled rotors...

I wanted drilled and access to a local sport shop, so I ended up with Stillen Motorsport brakes. I've had them on for 50K miles or so. I believe they do free shipping on rotors.

honestly, with modern pad technology, you'd be hard pressed to see any difference in performance using slotted/drilled rotors vs plain ones. So the best "value" would be getting a blank centric rotor. But shedding some weight with the 2 piece rotors would do more for performance than any slots or holes would do.

True, 2-piece rotors will add much more performance...RacingBrake rotors are 4 lbs. lighter than OEM rotors per corner (of unsprung rotational mass!). The only downside is the price...for about $900 you can get a pair of 2-piece rotors, OR a complete front & rear kit containing 4 slotted rotors, front and rear performance pads, stainless steel braided brake lines, upgraded fluid and new front and rear sensors.

So it always comes down to budget/need...

$900??? jeeze, forget that.. what about the 2-piece Z4 rotors I've read about? That seems like it would be a good fit.

key there you are talking $450+ per rotor and that is way outside what i asked for in the first post ... I know they would be awesome but not spending that much

which is why I was looking at Cquence dimpled ... do you have the Cyro's? Do you notice a real advantage with them?

I know with drilled integrity is mainly compromised if they are drilled post forming versus the forming with the drilled holes in place

EBC i eliminated due to the price

I don't quite need new rotors yet, but when I do, I'll be buying the PowerSlot Cryos, because I plan on getting into Auto-X, and they are supposedly less apt to warp under stress. Since they aren't that much more money, I thought I would give them a try. I had dimpled rotors on my VW, and I can't say they were all that noticeably different than stock. I keep reading only slotted rotors add performance, so that's what I will be going with next time.

gotcha, yea most "cheaper" rotors using drilled or dimple don't have that much of a performance boost, that is why i was looking at dimpled and slotted

i do like the look of those under my advans but dont want to go BBK
