Yes it can be done, it's about 2-3 full days of work. Removing the front panels and bumpers etc is quite easy and you can find a bunch of DIYs on that, so i won't get into that. The rear quarter panels are the ones that scare most of the builders off But it's not that hard tbh. Since somewhat year 200x BMW decided that all their quarter panels should be repaired by glueing instead of welding so you can basicly do the conversion with just a drill and some other basic tools. Althought I welded the side panels, which is a bit more complicated as you have to remove most of the interior, if I'd have the knowledge upfront I would propably have gone with the glue. Anyways you need a special kind of drill to cut out just the outer metal, with that you just drill off all the weld spots. Then you cut out the B-, C- and the sideskirt pillars. And then just pop out the panel. Ofcourse you have to bang it a bit to get it out but it's a 1-2 hour job / side. Now just insert the new part (aligns with door) and cut it accordingly.

Everything else is pretty much bolt on. I've got some random pictures collected from the project here: http://jyrbba.kuvat.fi/kuvat/talvi2011/

If someone needs the official BMW instructions how to replace the rear quarter panels let me know, i've got them on my email as PDF.

Matt: Thanks but I got it covered

official BMW instructions how to replace the rear quarter panels

I was hit at the very back of the quarter panel when a truck slowly backed into it. So I'm going to add the m3 quarters, and those official BMW instructions would be a lot of help. Thanks! I cant pm yet by the way. So maybe you can send it to me?

I was quoted 2200 CDN including parts and labor to get the rear M3 quarters put onto my E92. Now im sure i can get it for around 1900ish since i didnt negotiate. I will probably do this summer once i have some spare cash handy. Its the easiest to do, but IMHO not a true widebody. But its OEM and cheapest.

$1900 cdn is pretty cheap but then you will need rear bumper as well.

A small update, as I just got it painted finally Still got some work to make it all fit together nicely but the hardest part is behind now.

http://jyrbba.kuvat.fi/kuvat/talvi2011/maalattuna/

There are a few photos of the current condition, the color is my own mix from Atlantis Metallic, with 1/3 less green in it. Propably very close to the one IND uses.
