'08 128i - OEM Goodyear RFT NCT5 replaced by Conti DWS at 24,000 miles, Absolutely no difference in gas mileage whatsoever. Unless one went to an "eco" (low rolling resistance) tire, why would there be? Tom |

How are the Conti DWS's
How are the Conti DWS's
Have you had any leaks or flats with the non RFT's ? Do you carry a spare and jack? It looks like you would need a jack even with a repair kit. http://www.permasealtire.com/ This link is kind of interesting (RFTing non RFT's) |

I've had only one flat in the last 20 years which required the use of a spare, although I have (very carefully) driven a few miles on a couple of leaking, underinflated tires to get to a repair facility. The last time was about 10 years ago on an unpaved road in rural Newfoundland in a Z3 - a leaking rear tire was still holding about 15 lbs. pressure. Getting to the spare in a fully packed Z3 was so inconvenient that I simply drove the car at about 30 mph to the nearest town where they plugged (but did not patch) the tire - which then lasted another 20,000 miles with no further problems. So whether on RFTs or non RFTs, I carry a small 12v compressor and plug kit (but no sealant to gunk up the TPM sensors) in the trunk which (knock on wood!) has so far warded off flats. I do the same with my motorcycle and would consider Permaseal only after the results of objective testing (preferably by Tire rack, Consumer Reports, etc.) were made public. Tom |

from a G35
I came from an infiniti G35, and I ran both proxys and pilot sport 2's on it... when I made very hard tuns the tire folded. I haven't had this with my 335i that has the rft. Anyone care to explain? Was I turning in too hard? and do the RFT on the 335i hold up to turning that much better?
Don't turn this into a g35 slam. It's refinement sucked, but that's all. It was a beast and I loved its personallity. I loved driving it. But there's no way i would go back. why did I switch? Had to. But I walked away from it.

My car always had a slight shimmy in the steering wheel running on RFTs and I'm hoping when I change to regular tires this will improve.

imo RFTs are for people who need to drive with max performance, such as drug runners and highway speed demons. If you don't drive like you stole it and don't think you're gona be pulling G-forces and suddenly have a flat, then it would be cheaper to get non-RFT.

I ditched the RFT's a couple of weeks ago for PS2 non runflats. Ride is much better, and handling doesn't seem to have suffered.
I have KW coilovers, and every bump was an adventure with the run flats. Seemed like the car would follow every contour in the road, especially at low speeds. The savings over the run flats covered the cost of a space saver spare, jack, a lug wrench, compressor and a plug kit. Plus there is always BMW assist, and AAA. |

Exactly!! I'm ordering the Runflat PS2 tomorrow. I'm paying $400 over a set of reg tires, because I know I won't be happy with not having that turning on rails feeling.
