My budget is 2k and going for SQ not spl, too.
I started with base stereo 8 speaker, and tweeters at window sail.


I've upgraded follwings in order.

1. Dynavin headunit - March 12
2. Focal 100KRS-March 27
3. SSMb8 -April 21
4. MS-8 - May
5. Audison 4.5 4ch amp -May

I'll add 10" sub + amp next month.

Focal replacement was the most noticeble improvement over stock speakers. After speaker replacement, I kept stock 8" under the seats till I found SSMB8. Bass from stock 8" was hollow and mushy. SSMb8 had much more defined bass but needed more juice from the amp.

My next upgrade was MS-8 but Dynavin crapped out on me and OEM headunit went back on my system. After OEM head unit was reinstalled, detail and clarity were serverely downgraded as if I down graded cheap skeakers. I can't wait till my Dynavin is fixed. The original head unit has very poor sound clarity and I personally think it's the 2nd most important upgrade in sound system.

For speaker adaptor, there 's a guy in LI NY ( I found him on ebay)does custom size for you for $14 shipped. That worked out for me
