you can add any exhaust system and it won't void your warranty. You will be fine. I have aftermarket mufflers and had no problem taking it into the dealer. Get the exhaust you like. There have been many members on this forum that have taken their car in with eisenmann, vanguard, muffler delete, secondary cat delete, and so forth and did not run into a problem. The only time it will void your warranty is if you car has problems with exhaust related problems then the dealer will give you BS telling you that it is your exhaust that is causing this error to go off. Other than that you will fine. Hope this helps

I did a BMW Performance Exhaust installed by my dealer. It was done over a year ago, think it ran about $1,500. I really like the sound, not really loud at low rpm's, but has a nice wail over about 3,500-4,000 rpm.
I had the same reasoning regarding the warranty, as the exhaust is not something I would ever want to remove and replace for dealer visits. |

I put my PE on in my driveway over a year ago and it has been to the dealer a few times and they have never even mentioned it.
+1 to all the guys above. It is illegal for them to deny you a warranty claim unless they can prove the modification was a direct cause of the failure. Do a search for the Magnussun-Moss act (hope I spelled that right). If nothing else, it protects the aftermarket companies that would be put out of biz if everyone was afraid to buy their products. Either way, supposedly the PE is still under BMW warranty anyway. |

I think the AE one is in that range and the vanguard. Both are very popular and in my opinion sound great.
I'm actually waiting for my vanguard to come in.

You said what kind of exhaust you could buy for $1100, so I'm assuming you meant an exhaust system. Autobahn Exotics and Vanguard make exhaust systems.

A lot of or if not all performance mods will in some way void your warranty. Some dealerships tell you they are "okay" with your mods until it comes time to warranty something and then they blame the mods. Yes, the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act may protect you to some extent, if the dealership sees the mods you come in with, they will take pictures/notes of your mods to keep on file.
You can get pass this if you have a connection/hook up at the dealership or if you take off all your performance mods before you go get WARRANTY work done. If not, you run the risk of voiding your warranty.

if you guys are worried about warranty then get the PE or if DINAN has one get that, and be done with it.. cause any mods that are not cosmetic can void the warranty..

But yeah, I agree with you on the fact that if someone is afraid of voiding warranty, they should go with Dinan or BMWPE.

Only one is BMWPE. If not you can go with Dinan but I think it's pricey.
