Anyone here paint their stock calipers?

Thinking of having mine painted black, but concerned about compromising the braking aspect of things etc and that it might possibly look like a train wreck. Thoughts and experiences from anyone who has?

Yup, and there doesn't seem to be a problem with it. Try the G2 product listed here. I'd go for 1 batch of silver for all the hubs (I personally hate how they rust), and 1 batch of whatever color you please for the calipers.
And here's a good DIY http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=374404

Yeah, if you do it right away, you can prevent the rust from happening in the first place on the rotors, and it takes much less effort to paint right on the rotors than it does to clean them first...

I'm going to warn you right now, painting your calipers can be a big mistake. They are very small and look strange when painted due to their size and design. I have seen some done that look very good and other that look terrible, I guess it all depends on the prep work and paint color choice. Anyway end of lecture, best of luck to you and post pictures when you have it finished.

Well, I powdercoated my calipers Gloss Black, with the brackets and hardware in Silver, painted my hubs silver also.

They are 1000x better looking than the rusty brakes/hubs that were there previously. I chose more subtle colors as I just wanted a clean look - nothing that calls too much attention to the brakes. Colors go great with my SGM.

Take a look and decide for yourself whether it's worth it (and I haven't cleaned these in a week either )

Very nice. I did mine black with them on the car. Lots of tape then I added a brembo sticker on the fronts. Everyone did double takes on them for about a year. Then I decieded to quite posing so i am going to get some BMW stickers and do them again. The 2 tone is the Sheizzey.

Seriously? Painting the calipers does not do anything to performance.

I'm in Western PA 35 mi outside of Pittsburgh

I had mine powdercoated for maximum durability at the place in Export, PA that does all my powdercoating.

Don't know about the G2 self-paint, but the powdercoating will stand up to setting in gasoline and won't hurt the surface if you wanted too

I used hi temp matte silver spray paint for the hubs - matched the 'original' hub paint & caliper bracket pretty close...

I painted mine with that G2 self paint(black) when I pur my rims on, and let me tell you it looks night and day! I dont see how people can spend 1,500 to 3,000 on rims and not pay attation to all that rust on the calipers and disks

Looks great! But it doesn't look like you painted the hubs. With those exposed wheels, you should do that before it rusts.
