They make a V12 version of the Vantage, but almost all are still sold with a V8. In 2008, the V8 was bored out to 4.7 litres vs. 4.3, giving it a bit more power and torque. They also tweaked the suspension, etc.
I do agree that a 911 is the best compromise between a car that is desirable, excellent to drive, but also tough enough to drive every day. Quote:

While Ferrari and the Aston Martin, rich parents hard buy these cars for their kids. But I really like the Vantage, the look is more subtle than a Ferrari/Lambo.

replace "generous" with "misguided".

the 911 does look kinda awkward, it's part of the charm.

Agreed, remember that the 911 is a circa 1964 design which hasn't change a whole lot. Other than the addition of the water pump in 1999. |

In all honesty, I've considered this too. Actually if you look hard, you can find both for around the $60k mark in the US. Lots of people have them as fun cars but when the recession hit, they decided to get rid of them.
However...financially, remember that the maintenance is going to get you. I personally like the Ferrari but it's because I've been a big fan of Ferrari's. They're both very high maintenance vehicles. Even replacing the windshield will cost you a few thousand. That and the older the car, the more maintenance there will be........... |

Got a few quotes on the AM from BC listed on autotrader. The 6.1% duty of getting it from the US makes it cheaper getting here.

If you're really this conscious about money then the Ferrari is out of the question for you given its ridiculous ownership costs. Either the Vantage or a GT-R.
