A bit biased yes but it's hard to argue with the my comments. If we use the same logic then if the P car looks like a frog then the AM looks like a butt plug.

No my hint was to you. The person you quoted also owns a Porsche.

They make a V12 version of the Vantage, but almost all are still sold with a V8. In 2008, the V8 was bored out to 4.7 litres vs. 4.3, giving it a bit more power and torque. They also tweaked the suspension, etc.

I do agree that a 911 is the best compromise between a car that is desirable, excellent to drive, but also tough enough to drive every day.

the aston will suffer greatly, specially since you would be getting the v8 model in that price range--the v8 was the lesser of engine and was replaced with the v10 or 12, i cant remember. Thats the only reason why you are seeing the AM in that price range anyway, because the engine was a total let down in performance. It will only get worse IMO, probably will be worth ~45-55k in 3 years depending on mileage.

The 360 is going to horrible to maintian, so it should be automatically out of the question.

what you are left with really, are porsches. I've already gone through this scenario just like you lol. The GT3/RS/TT models hold their value well, are low on maintenance and have the "status" you are looking for. There aren't many cars out there that hold their value well---- Best resale I have ever seen for a "normal" car has to be the RS4 though-- over the last 3 years, they are still around 50+. Basically, you cant have the pie and eat it too. If these two cars are the only options, I would take the AM. You cant expect a minimal loss on resale though.

Its because a of you kids drive the e9x and get speeding ticket or accidents or in others word lots of claims.

While Ferrari and the Aston Martin, rich parents hard buy these cars for their kids.

But I really like the Vantage, the look is more subtle than a Ferrari/Lambo.

You seem to really hate younger people with generous parents.

the 911 does look kinda awkward, it's part of the charm.

Agreed, remember that the 911 is a circa 1964 design which hasn't change a whole lot. Other than the addition of the water pump in 1999.

In all honesty, I've considered this too. Actually if you look hard, you can find both for around the $60k mark in the US. Lots of people have them as fun cars but when the recession hit, they decided to get rid of them.

However...financially, remember that the maintenance is going to get you. I personally like the Ferrari but it's because I've been a big fan of Ferrari's. They're both very high maintenance vehicles. Even replacing the windshield will cost you a few thousand.

That and the older the car, the more maintenance there will be...........

Got a few quotes on the AM from BC listed on autotrader. The 6.1% duty of getting it from the US makes it cheaper getting here.

If you're really this conscious about money then the Ferrari is out of the question for you given its ridiculous ownership costs. Either the Vantage or a GT-R.
