Transferring my Xenons
It's proving quite difficult to find a car to the spec I want to replace my 330d. Finding one with Xenons limits choice dramatically.
Does anyone know how difficult it would be to transfer the Xenons from my written off car to a car that I might buy that does not have Xenons fitted? I know it's prohibitively expensive to retrofit Xenons, but does that apply if you already have all the parts and just need to transfer them? |

The seller thinks he's giving the car away at the price he agreed with me, but I think that he's going to struggle to get what he wants. Most people want an Auto so values of the manual cars are somewhat lower. |

It's not just the xenons themselves, you need (officially) the leveller system including the rear axle sensors and wiring and the headlight washer units too, so it's quite involved.
Plus, I would never want to buy a car that has had them retro fitted... |

+1 isn't it an MOT fail for xenons with no washer units?

The car I was thinking of doing this with has a washer system already. However I wasn't aware the auto-levelling was associated with the rear axle - sounds too complicated to bother with.

I read on another forum if a car comes from the factory it has to have auto levellers and washers , but retrofitted it doesn't.
I cant be sure its correct but there was a massive discussion somewhere on the subject and im sure it was decided you can fit without washers and levellers |

you'll be able to get all the stuff off your old motor. if you search online there are lists of everything that is req to do it properly with the oem parts. A decent indy will fit and code them for you no bother. There are easier/shortcut methods but at the moment from what I hear mot stations will put them through as long as there in a projector headlamp but they are going to become uber strict by late 2012-2013 and you will req the washers and auto levelling sensors
