Escort 9500xi hardwired in an e92? Reception issue?
Anyone here have 9500ix? I have 8500 and want to upgrade. Worried about gps reception. I have 8500 hardwired and mounted above left of rear view mirror. Anyone know if there's enough exposure, and if the glass angle etc. Permits gps to get reception in tgat spot? Pointless to upgrade if the detector can't tell where it is.

Sorry, not to be neurotic, have you ever had it mounted at the top of the windshield as high up as you can go on the glass? (you said "wherever I mount" which makes me think u move it around, which makes me want to confirm if you've got it hardwired - if you don't I doubt you'd ever mount that high?

I've had mine for over a year, usually mounted port-side and equal or above the top of the rear-view. I just try to not mount it so high that the back-looking window isn't obscured by the rear-view.
I even have ceramic tinting on my front. Never any noticeable radar reception problems, and locks on to GPS within seconds.

I mount mine in my e90 in that same spot. As high as it can go and still have space to press the "release" button to get it off the bracket. No reception issues that I can make out.

Just above and to the right of the rearview is also convenient for running the power cable up under the windshield trip over across the top, down beside the A pillar air bag and behind the dash for a hard-wire. I really was surprised how easy it was to run the wire, and how nice it was to not have the wire run visible down to the cig lighter.

I have mine hardwired in the exact center of the windshield, just about as high as I can go while still having access to the buttons (but I have a remotely mounted button kit). Never any reception issues at all, ever, ever. I only get signal issues in large parking garages which is normal. Go ahead and mount it, you won't regret it. It is a fantastic device, the 9500ix, I've never tried V1, but I really enjoy how quiet the passport gets after learning and locking out all your false threats.
Cheers,
