My car is almost here
Hey all,
So I am brand new to this and brand new to owning a BMW... I ordered a 335i coupe from the factory, and she is currently on the boat in transit to the US... I was wondering if ANYONE out there had gone through this process and if there was anything I should know... ALSO... What's up with breaking this engine in? Are there rules I need to follow, or will she come ready for me to "drive"?? Thanks in advance for your help... |

You need to break in any car you drive. For most cars, that means, keep the engine RPM's below 4k for the first few thousand miles. I don't know what the manual says, but follow that.
You can still have a lot of fun in the curves---no need to red line the engine.

Natural deceleration under 5K RPM is good for break-in. To each is own but I did 1000 Km of break-in, changed the oil and took it to the track after that.
