Hi does anybody know if this memory is by key profile ?

My wife and I each have a key for our 335i, do we each have a throttle profile ?

Finally remembered to do this today, used the 30sec method (hold gas for 30 sec, wait 30 sec to start) and it worked great

Gonna try my other key to see if the program remains or is set to the key

with BT cable in , select engine n54 then commands, top choice is ECU Reset. they are broken down into sub categories too like air/fuel adaptations and more. Good to do this if you add/change intake, add meth or begin to use race gas or something. Just makes the care adapt more quickly by reducing the amount of Data it needs to calculate.

For the record, I talked to my SA the other day about this and he said that if your driving style changes at all it should automatically adapt within 2 weeks. He also mentioned that if you disconnect the battery for a few hours that might do the trick, but he didn't recommend it. Probably because they want to charge you $120 to plug it into their computers and do it for you...

So does the 5 second method reset the throttle response, and the 30 second method reset the transmission's "attitude"? (according to what i read on the threads above)

And about the dead zone for the first part of the throttle's response, there's a fix for that?

Do you know exactly how many adaptions has the engine? This adaptation only resets the values of throttle?

There is adaptations for the battery, engine knock, vanos, octane, lambda, intake manifold, throttle valve, and few others.

Here's a picture of the commands in my BT tool....I'm sure there's more for other modules.

Ok, I just tried to reset adaptions.

I reset all adaptions, I turned off the ignition, waited 30secs, (key out) then put the key in and pushed start button 1 time, waited 30 secs, then stepped on the brake and pushed start. From what I can tell this is what everyone says needs to be done to avoid the idle blurp as its called. I was not effective for me. I can go in, while its blurping and clear the engine codes and make it stop, but it just is goint to happen again the next time I start the car. This is what I do, when i think I have enough time to let the system be moody and not do what it is suppose to. This way, if I need to get somewhere, I can. Sometimes the car will be stuck in 3rd gear as well. I go to the transmission setting and clear errors there so that the transmisson will shift but I have been asking for about a year for someone to explain why sometimes it will clear the codes and start correctly and sometimes it won't.

I usually go through a battery of methods over and over trying to get the throttle adaptions to take and not cause the blurp and by the time it happens, I am so tired of doing it, that I am not sure exactly what I have done. I have heard, locking the doors makes a difference, but I am really baffled.

Unless your are really concerned about the little time you save resetting the adaptions having the car re-learn how to breathe, I recommend not doing it. Unless you have a day to kill and are very patient, just reset the ecu, and everything that says air in it. Fuel, ocatne, vanos, etc. You can easily clear the codes that come up when you do that, Throttle adaptions...... like I said, I have been trying to figure it out for over a year. Every time I get the car running again, it likes a trauma that has passed and I promise never to try it again. Maybe its because I have a piggy tune, and a speed delimiter that I can seem to get it to work for me by following instructions.

I've just done the reset on my 2006 e91 325i and it has made a very significant difference to the way it drives.

I believe that this procedure only resets the throttle position sensor but on automatic transmission cars the TPS is connected to the transmission electronics - hence the noticeable improvement.

Does the kick-down switch needs to be activated for this to work? I tried the procedure a few times without any changes but I have a kick-down switch stopper.

There are actually 2 resets here then, transmission, which is the 30-40 hold and the twice 5 for throttle...
