Issues after getting new turbos

I had my turbos replaced under warranty about 2 weeks ago with due to wastegate rattle. They replaced both turbos with what seems to be the latest part numbers for the turbos (11657593015 and 11657593016).

I recently noticed i am still having some rattling. On a cold start when going from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd i notice some slight rattle (appears to be normal for most people on a cold start) but when i park up against a wall after the engine is warm and rev it I can clearly hear some rattling (it is a little faint but I know the sound so i can hear it clearly). Just wondering if that is normal? It is nowhere near as loud as it was before i had my turbos replaced but i find it odd that there is still some rattling. Another thing i noticed on a cold start is that my RPM's dont jump as high as they used to.

Also, i noticed after they replaced my turbos my exhaust is much quieter than before (catless mid pipes and bastuck muffler). I am assuming it is because my wastegates arn't stuck open anymore, but when driving at a constant RPM sometimes they exhaust noise with all of a sudden get louder and deeper (similar to how it sounded before) and then become quiet again…this can't be normal. I am not sure what the problem is, just wondering if someone has any insight.
Thanks

1. You have after market DPs cattless no less; Even if they were catted you will hear the wastegates more as you will hear the Turbo spool more. A little noise is normal and mixed in with DI noise. Backing up to a wall, the noise is a bit more tin like but slight. - Completely normal. Go back to complete stock DPs and all, and it will disappear. You do realize the after market pipes are a bit thinner too than the stockers and don't have that accordion joint the stockers have? They tend to transmit more noise. I know first hand from going from stock to Catted DPs.

2. The noise change in the exhaust also partly due to that valve in the one side exhaust opening and closing. If you have a tune, it tends to sometimes throw off the normal flap behavior. But yes I think you are unnecessarily worried. Your car probably 100% fine.

I had a software update before my turbos were changed because the dealer thought my wastegate rattle would be solved by that. After the software update i did not notice a sound level change in my exhaust until after the turbos were replaced.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure if i indicated clearly in my initial post but i have catless mid pipes not downpipes. Also i have an aftermarket muffler (bastuck) so i do not have a value on my exhaust. Ive had these mods on my car for about 1 1/2 years and ive noticed these issues only after i had my turbos replaced 2 weeks ago.

I've noticed that my exhaust changes volume and tone too. Its REALLY noticable, passengers mention it. It usually happens when I'm pulling a hill, so i think it could be vanos changing valve timing under increased load. I have a magnaflow axel back and otherwise stock exhaust

Wastegate control plays a major role in exhaust tone.

I have heard same thing after my my new Turbos and just assumed it was normal and I was hearing it because for one I have DPs, and second the new Turbos are actually a bit different from the old ones I had in the car. Third, my rattles were so loud and annoying before, they'd just drown out all other noises so I really have no good baseline to go by. As for just tone, IDK, my boost solenoids were bad too, and affected how my Turbos operated.

Off topic. But they replaced your turbos under warranty?? Did you have to pay anything? And did you bring it in with all your mods?

Yes, it was covered under warranty. i don't know if the techs didn't care or they couldn't tell...they didn't notice i had catless mid pipes. I just took out my jb+ and dci before hand it it was fine.

On a side note, they did try and blame my 30FF code on my muffler, saying because it wasn't stock the valve line was causing the code...this after they tried blaming it on my boost gauge lol

I removed all my mods for a dealer visit when they replaced the turbo with new wastegates. I haven't notice any wastegates issue at all. Knock on wood!!!
