How reliable is your tuned car.
Thinking about buying the BMS meth kit, I already have the jb4, er cp and synapse but a couple of weeks ago my car threw the half engine light, took off all the mods took it to the dealer, they replaced hpfp and 2 injectors, got the car back reinstalled all the mods, on first startup half engine light, found two codes, erased them and it was fine for a week, then the other day started car got half engine and reduced power, thought it was hpfp again so took off all the mods and drove to dealer, dealer had it for two days but could not find anything wrong.
Im now thinking the jb4 is triggering the light, car runs great without it, anybody else noticed that the jb4 connectors look like they might disconnect with bumps on the road? Like they dont have a safety clip to hold them togheter, could they be making false contact for being loose? How reliable is your tuned car? And what tune do you use, anybody have a bulletproof meth spraying car that is always running good?

Afraid to say it without knocking on wood, but I ordered my tune before the car was made on the line in Germany. It went in at 700 miles and has been in for over 4 years with no mechanical problems.
My car is not my daily driver though, it mainly lives in the garage and I put about 4500 miles a year on it. If you have not already contacted them, the JB support is very timely and I'm sure they would help you get to the root cause. |

Are you not pulling codes when you get a half engine light? If not, you should be, then you would be doing much less guessing.
And to answer you question, about 30k with procede. 1 HPFP replaced at 5x,000 miles. |

I think different cars react to tunes differently. One 335i may go years without a problem with a tune and another 335i may break down easily with a tune. It's just hit or miss. I really don't think its something that can be diagnosed.

Ive read the codes when the light comes on and this is what I get, Codes 2a7c and 3100, as a matter of fact dealer saw these codes but said they were not present and it was a one time thing, ive thought about changing tunes but ive heard more positive stuff about jb4 than negative, cobb would be ideal due to how easy it is to install-uninstall but ive read alot of negative about it.

my 08 sedan is my daily driver. I had the ess stage two tune before and it never gave me any problems at all. I switched my setup to the proceed and with their progressive meth kit. still no issues here

I met a guy in NC who experience issue with his car when he put in a tune. These 335 is a hit and miss. After 4 fuel pumps, four set of spark plugs, two set of coils, two set of injectors, new turbos, this car been serving me well...

What the heck dude are you my lost twin? My car has gone through exact same thing. Just got my second pair of Turbos and all is good I hope. I used to live in Plano back in late 90s, and like you also lived in NJ for a while. What a coincidence.

i honestly don't think the tunes are the problem, regardless if you go with GIAC, Cobb, JB4, Procede, etc.
it's the damn sensitivity of the car and the terrible fluel system..... |

Been running great for 2 years and 20k miles on my GIAC flash. This car has been great though, only one HPFP issue the whole time i've had it. No other issues. My mileage is at 48k right now. Knock on wood*

Bought car with 8 miles.
New hpfp at around 1,500 miles (only noted long crank times and wanted it checked before a tune) jb3 for 200 miles sstt for 22,000 miles Procede v4 2,000 miles Cobb for 3,000 miles New hpfp and 4 injectors under recall (did get a half engine light after a 0-120mph run, fuel pump codes, I was getting longer crank times for over a year, but thought it was the new dme software, after the new pump, fires up with no crank time now) Cobb for 5,000 more miles and no other codes or issues. |
