Is this a Production Number?? (In Canada)

Hey All,

Question. I ordered a 2007 BMW 328i on April 28, 2007 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Today, I received a call from the dealership, informing me that I got June Production. I asked what week of production, but the CA said he didn't know, only could pull the month of production from the system.

After reading these boards, I realize how important a production number is. I specifically asked for a production number, and he gave me a 9 digit number:

008708***

From my lurking, it looks like "real" production numbers are 7 digits, starting with a 3******. Of course, 95% of this board is State-side and go through Owners Choice, and my initial guess is maybe it is different here in Canada or something. I even wrote down 7 numbers and said thanks, and he corrected me, saying, no, production numbers are 9 digits, not 7.

I continued to ask when I would get my car, and he said I would get a call from him mid to late July on when the car is here (in canada, on transit via train) and any other details.

I even asked if he could give me any more details from the system, and he said there was nothing, and that he could sit and check the system every day and it wouldn't give him much info. It updates when it is actually here in Canada ready to be shipped to the dealership.

Don't know what this above number means. Anyone have an idea? Should I call him again or is it simply different here in Canada?

At least he confirmed I got a production slot, I guess that is really all that matters...

why not call a 1-800 (if you guys have it) and check to see if that's a real number?? Either that or register for it in owner's circle and track it.

That's the thing...Owners Circle is on the BMW US site only.

I don't think there is a 1-800 either. I'll try to find one, though.

Yes, this production number is valid, mine was 8707xxx, Your production number is 9 digits because, there are 00 in the beginning, this is actually the correct way, but people normally skip the 2 zeros.

Thanks for your responses. Helps ease my mind.

Okay, I will send him an e-mail asking what my production week is. Pretty sure he isn't telling me because he doesn't want to get my hopes up for an early July delievery, I think.

Is there anything I can decode from my production number similar to how the US guys can?
