Avoid BMW Of Rochester

So I've had numerous problems with BMW of Rochester, and the most recent was with the service department. I'd recommend steering clear of them.

So I had a blowout over a week ago, on a Friday evening. Blah blah blah, need a new tire, wheel is bent, blah. Can't get to the service dept. until Monday. Big deal. Talk to the service dept. Monday morning, they say yeah we'll call your warranty company (that they sell) that I have tire and wheel coverage on, and then order the new wheel (VMR V710). They called back Monday afternoon, and said that the wheel would take about a week to get there, since it had to ship from Cali. I told them go for it, and he said he was going to call the warranty company, and order the wheel. Didn't hear anything more from him, assumed he was waiting for the wheel. Called back this afternoon, and he hasn't even ordered the wheel yet.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Apparently, the warranty company wants to repair the wheel, not replace it. Dealer had his wheel repair guy look at it, definitely needs to be replaced. This was Tuesday morning. From then on, he wanted to touch base with me, so apparently I was supposed to read his mind and call him. Almost a week with no correspondence and no call. I had to call him.

Am I way off base here and should just be psychic?

It's the same story everywhere. At JMK BMW, the buggers will just keep the car on their lot if you don't actively follow up.

Not the case at Towne BMW....

But I bought my car there and in my experience, you don't get better service than your home dealer...

BTW, where do you live so I can come over and see how three of those v710's look on your car?

I may be buying them tomorrow instead of lc818's...

Well the car is still at BMW of Rochester, so just head on over there and wander the service lot. If anyone has a spare I can borrow for a few days, I'd be very grateful lol...

And the saga continues.

So after my talk with Dave, he's going to try to get the warranty company to replace the wheel, otherwise he's going to have his guy repair it. Apparently they wanted him to try repairing it first, so that's what he did. Wheel repair guy was supposed to come Tuesday, never showed. Came Wednesday, said he would stop back, didn't. Granted, none of this is BMW of Rochester's fault, but still. Guy finally comes Thursday, picks up the wheel, and returns it this morning. Then the BMW guys go to put it on, and realize they ordered the WRONG TIRE. Now they're overnighting the tire, and telling me Monday morning it will be done.

Unless i get something major from them, they're not earning my business ever again.

My god, its a tire and rim?!?! What in holly hell are they doing?
Its not like your getting your engine replaced.
I swear that whole place is backwards.

Oh, and my trouble with them now is, remember how I purchased my car from them a little before you got yours? Well after a month I got my registration sticker in the mail...its due in 2 months?...WTF. So in two months I have to pay AGAIN to register my car? I think not.

How did you manage to get tire and wheel coverage on a after market wheel in the first place?

The warranty that I purchased from the dealer (The Mechanic) is an aftermarket package that has tire and wheel. I discussed with the finance manager, the general manager, and my sales rep and they all said aftermarket wheels will be covered. They were right, it just so happens that this dealer is a bunch of idiots.

I got a loaner for the weekend (finally, after 2 weeks not having) - 11 328 xi coupe with premium package. Makes me want to pull the mirrors off this thing and put them on my car, but that's about it.

I'm just praying I get my car back on Monday, and I plan to have a nice chat with the Service Manager at that point to make sure he's aware.

Trust me, I've been nothing but respectful to this guy... more so than I should be.

Is this dealer the one that shares the service department with Greenwich BMW?

If so, I agree. The SA that I dealt with tried to rip me off.

I have to admit, I had just the opposite experience with them. I worked with Steve Barnard (service desk manager) and Shawn. Those guys went way above and beyond for me. I blew out my HPFP a few days before my BMW CCA driving event. I had no appointment and they were very backed up. Initially, they couldn't see me for a few weeks. After explaining my situation and the fact that the school wouldn't refund all my money if I missed the event, they got me in and out of there in time. Honestly, I wouldn't (and won't) hesitate to call on those two guys again.

During the event, I rolled the bead on one of my tires and called them when I got back. I didn't need to be seen right away because I could keep filling my tire with air until they could get to me. The had me bring it in and fixed it right then and there.

a lot of the tire and wheel warranty companies are dropping bmw because of how much money they have to pay out to them. so they are trying their best to not pay out for claims. it sucks and there is no reason your sa shouldn't be on the phone with you letting you know what's going on.

I actually I had a good experience there. I was visiting Rochester for Xmas break and my angel eye went out. Without any appointment, I called and asked if I could come in to get it replaced (Xmas Eve btw). They had me in and fixed it for me within an hour or so. The service guys were great too. Maybe it's a one off?
