Silver lining in tragedy?
I was over at my parents visiting and my mother needed to run out for some errands. Neither of us thought about it, but I was parked right behind her in the driveway. She opened the garage door and backed out like usual and inside we heard a tire screech and then her honking the horn for my dad and i to come out.
Interestingly enough, the wheel squeeling was my rear tires on the driveway. They left about a 4-5" patch on the concrete. Even more interesting is that even with the tire patches, the only damage I can find is a sizeable dent in the bumper. They already said they would turn it into their insurance. So... since I was looking at a different bumper down the road for my e90 anyhow, I suppose this would be the time to do so. I can do the labor myself. So two questions: 1) Would you all suggest having the insurance get the estimate for the new bumper, paint, labor and take the cash to get the bumper I want? 2) What bumpers/brands are the favorites? I like the mtech front, but wasn't sure if there are other popular options. |

MSport or M3 rep are the popular options. You could convert to LCI MSport if willing to toss in some extra cash.

Poor mom! At least everyone is alright. Personally I'm a fan of the aero lip look, but if I had to choose between mtech and m3, I'd go with the former. Everyone and their momma has the m3 front bumper.

What about the mtech body kit from Tischer BMW? http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462
It's OEM parts, and it looks great IMO. I might try it on my car. |

She felt really really bad because she knows how much I love my cars. It sucked, but its easily fixable and I tried to not let her get too down on herself.

So what did you decide? Still mulling over the options? |

I think I am leaning the mtech route. I assume the best place to get the real deal is Tischner (sp)? and it comes with everything I need (ducts, fogs, grilles)? I consider myself to be pretty handy and figure I can do the labor myself saving on install costs. Am I correct in thinking it is easily doable? EDIT: This item should be plug in play in regards to my grilles/fenders/etc correct? I have a 2008 e90. http://www.trademotion.com/shoppingc...MethodID=12461 Last edited by blbrchnk; 06-13-2011 at 10:45 AM.. |

After reading up in another thread about the m aero, people were saying that it isn't a full bumper replacement, but instead an add on. Can someone confirm/deny this?

While there are bumper add ons, this is a replacement bumper. The description says, "Kit includes front bumper, left, right, and center grills..." |

Are you crazy? Why on earth would you want to go through insurance? Don't go through insurance, since this is your family and it sounds like a small damage. This will leave a record on your mom's vehicle, your vehicle, affect resale value, and the insurance rate for your mom will increase. In the end will cost everyone a lot more than the bumper itself (which is only a few hundred bucks).
