Lease Calculation

Does this look right or am i missing something????????

3yr lease/ 15,000 miles
MSRP= 50,275
Residual= 58%
Money Factor = .00255 (my quote which i dont like)
MY PRICE= 45,040

50,275 * .58 = 29,159.50
45,040 - 29,159.50 = 15,880.50
15,880.50/36months = 441/month

45,040 + 29,159.50 = 74,199
74,199 * .00255(my quote) = 189/month interest
74,199 * .00185(standard rate) = 137/month interest

$441 + $189 = 630/month
$441 + $137 = 578/month

630/month * 8% sales tax = 680/month
578/month * 8% sales tax = 624/month

For the M/F you are supposed to add the 45,040+15,880.50, not 45,040+29159

EDIT: also why dont you pay the tax up front?? Just a thought to lower the payment.
And why are they bumping the base rate so much?

BASE RATE: .00185*2400= 4.4%
your quote: .00225*2400= 5.4%

if thats the case then my interest would be 155.35 if it was a .00255 rate and would only be 127.69 if the rate was .00185.

Either $568/month + tax or $596/month + tax........The dealership quoted me $701/month with $1600 down for taxes and fees....Where do they get that number from?????

If it makes any difference this is a Euro Delivery....that is part of the explanation why the rate is higher.

wait...ED is different. Im getting completely different numbers.

I would recommend you just go to a different dealership, 701$ a month is too much

I worked your numbers backwards to arrive at the actual price the dealer is trying to charge you. With $1,600 down, 8% tax rate, $50,275 MSRP, 36-months, 58% residual, .00255 money factor, and a $701 payment, your cap cost works out to $47,140. If you add together your cap cost and "down payment" you get $48,740 total sales price. Sounds like he's adding quite a few "fees."

looks like he's throwing in about 3000-4000 in extra fees......where the heck can he find that many fees from.....

i knew $701/month with my numbers didnt sound right....plus they jacked up my rate to .00255 and told me that is was non-negotiable.

the reasoning why the base rate was bumped up was because this is a EURO DELIVERY......i didn't know that euro delivery automatically had a higher base rate.....never saw that anywhere.

does someone know if this is really the case or is the dealer just trying to get me. the increase in the base rate is costing me an extra $60/month.....of course i'm gonna try to lower that.

the .0003 MF increase for ED is set by BMW. Since they pay your 2nd payment they marked up the MF to recoup the cost.

Hey - I am from Pittsford and just bought a 335i cabrio from likely the same dealer. Should be arriving next week.

I do not think your numbers are right in the initial post. I suggest that you let the dealer work out the lease fee with all the fees etc. identified separately so you can see what they are. I know the bank fee for a BMW lease is about $1,000 all by itself and in NY you have to pay the taxes on the ENTIRE lease up front in cash or as part of the overall lease fee. You included the tax on the monthly amount and therefore does not have the interest included.

The real comparison here should be lease vs. buy. Depending on how much you can put down and the interest rate you can get you could save several thousand $$ easily. If you add that to the ED savings potential (offset by costs to get there etc.) you coule be looking at a big lost opportunity for yourself.

When I worked out the numbers for my E93 it turned out that I would save about $4,500 if I bopught the car and then soled it for the 64% projected residual after 3 years. I know that the residual they are projecting is probably low because I have a 330cic on lease that has a buyout of $31,000 and they will sell it for $41,000 !! This aligns with Edmonds numbers as well.

I am also in Rochester and have ordered a e92 coupe via ED. Your number do not look right. If you are ordering through the local Rochester dealer ("Holtz") be very careful as they tend to overcharge all the time (personal experiences). Though msimon18 is right about taxes.
