yes you can get it unlocked to use it with a different carrier (the data will not work voice only).... it will work where ever t-mobile or DT have coverage

Every country in the world except Korea and Japan use GSM... but beware--other countries (such as Europe) use 2 GSM bandwidths that are different from the 2 used in the US, so only US QUAD-BAND phones will work in other countries (not all GSM phones are QUAD-BAND phones! check to make sure the sidekick is quad-band!)

but like the man said, if he's used his phone in the bahamas and london, I think you are good to go
