Does the tire *have* to be removed for e90 angel upgrades?

I stfa and found vague chatter it might be possible to do with the wheel turned in. Asking because I don't have a floor jack yet but have a set of GP Thunders I wanted to put in...

Yeah I pulled the wheels off to do my painted reflectors and peeked in there, looks like a tight fit

Just did that very install 3 days ago. I do not see how you can do it with the wheels on. Of course anything is possible but why add the extra ball breaking that the tire/wheel in the way will cause. I'm sure you can come up with some sort of jack. After the wheels are off just remove the inner fender well cover and you will see the box you need to pop off to gain access to the AE's. For me the screws holding in the AE's are still hard to get to so, having the wheel off let's you get your head in there to see what you're doing.

highly suggested to take the wheel off. I did both sides with just removing the liner... pain in the ass!!! no room to work with and your basically fishing around in the dark to take off the cap. My tires were stuck on lol couldn't take them off and had a weird jack set up due to the low jack points and my 3 ton jack not fitting under.

I've replaced the AE's and HID bulbs 2x without removing the wheels/jacking up the car. It wasn't that bad once you remove the liner. I have relative skinny arms and hands though, so maybe it's just me.

I replaced 1 without jacking tire on, it was tight and I am small. I replaced the other by jacking the car but NOT removing the tire, gave me a few more inches to move around.

Def would be a lot easier with the wheel off.

In the long run, it's quicker to just take the wheels off.

if u have small hands it's fine. I did mine just jacking it up a little but I have pretty small hands. Took 20 min for the first side since I didn't really know where everything was but the other side took me less than 10 min

Invest in some type of floor jack. You will use it over and over again the rest of your car modding days.

I did mine with car jacked up, wheels off. No possible way to do it if your wheels are 19"
