Dedicated Procede laptop?

Thinking about getting an inexpensive laptop that would be dedicated to use with a Procede tune in my car.

Since consensus seems to be that Windows XP works best, any thoughts about a basic (and inexpensive) netbook -- like an Asus 1005HA or 1001PX -- that comes with XP and has 1 GB Ram and 160 GB HDD.

Can pick these up for around $250, but would that they work well?

Thanks.

I run procede on my Toshiba netbook with windows 7 and it works great. only problem is that the screen is so small that I can't see the bottom of the use adjustable parameters screen so I just have to hit enter to apply

IMO, if you're just buying the laptop to use with the Procede, you might as well pick up a used XP laptop for $100 from someone.

Thanks.

Something like that is pretty much what I had in mind.

Are you running Windows 7 or XP on your HP Mini?

I got one of those $300 acer that is dedicated for the car. ITs windows 7 but it works seamlessly. I have it in windows xp compatibility mode but I think it worked fine without that.

The computer is not the best for multi-tasking but it only has one task and that is to upload firmware and datalog and does it just fine. Cant beat the price, battery life, light weight and size of it.

I'd recommend an older IBM Thinkpad. They can be had for cheap and indestructible. Battery sucks on them though.

gateway 11.6" here. Running win7. never had any issue and has better native resolution than standard netbook.
