AUX Port - Audio From Right Side Only

Hey folks,

I recently picked up a 2008 e93 and it has the USB + AUX ports but when I try to use it with my iPhone I only get audio from the right side of the car.

I've tried numerous devices and have confirmed that the AUX cable has two rings for stereo sound but still no dice.

Any idea where I can get a replacement AUX port? What's the replacement process like?

Also, how stupid is it that I can stream phone calls wirelessly via bluetooth but I need to have both USB + AUX connected at the same time to get music?

Is it possible at all to stream audio wirelessly via bluetooth or wired using the standalone USB cable?

It sounds to me like the AUX jack in the car was bent by the previous owner. I can't expect a replacement to cost that much, you just need a new jack--you could spice it in yourself if you're ballsy. And bluetooth music streaming and phone calls are a totally different ballgame. Think about it, would you want your music streaming at the quality your phone calls come in? It's a different standard, the Combox/Combox Telematics retrofit will get you BMW Apps and bluetooth audio streaming, as well as iPod direct over USB and iPod out. If you really want bluetooth streaming (and other great features) hit up Patrys@BimmerTech http://www.e90post.com/forums/member.php?u=59568.

It's a 2008. What does Bluetooth handsfree calling have to do with an iPod requiring the split cable? If you use a USB stick you don't need the split cable, by the way.

You can also use a BlackBerry Bluetooth music gateway - plenty of posts on that too.

Thanks everyone. I've been using USB sticks thus far but it doesn't allow me to utilize streaming services like Pandora, Rdio or Spotify which is a biggie for me.

Am going to start by replacing the AUX jack and thanks for the suggestion on Combox.

BTW, all the AUX jacks seem to have poor connections. My 2007 has been iffy since day 1.

Are you positive it's not the cable? My mom had a cable that had to be adjusted at the perfect angle to play music in all speakers then we went and got a new one and it works perfectly now.
