Questions about METHANOL

I have been seriously looking into doing this and i think the time may have arrived.

The kit i am leaning towards is the FSB CMGS system X kit.

I am currently running JB4, DCI, and CL DP's.

Questions.

1. What % of meth should i used to be SAFE?
2. With the JB4, will it auto adjust to the meth flow? (map 5, aka auto tuning)
3. Can the dealer tell if the car has had meth run thru it? (such as a nitrous motor)
4. How difficult of an install am i looking at? I installed my nitrous kit on my LS1, should it be in the same degree of difficulty?

Thanks

1. 50/50 mix is be 100% safe
2. Set meth flow which changes maps for meth
3. Dealer will be able to tell unless you take every meth part out
4. If you installed a nitrous kit, this should be a walk in the park

335why,
I am actually getting ready to head down this same path and hope to install my kit this evening.

My understanding is that Map 3 is the way to go on the JB4 as this is the current meth based map. The next map to use would be map 6 to fine tune if you know what your doing. For more information and support on the JB4 I would post over at N54tech or email Terry.

Once installed I will let you know how it goes!

Methanol install is a breeze compared to nitrous install.

Might be better to get Snow Performance Boost Juice. It's a 50/50 mix using distilled water/methanol and doesn't have the detergents that come with windshield washer fluid. It's $7.50 - $8.00/gallon.

That's what Shiv said in one of his posts for the PWM kit. Then we got the instructions and it is more like a couple hours. The charge pipe install itself is more than 15 minutes. Regardless, it should be a great mod.

It's most cost effective to purchase methanol and pre mix yourself with distilled water for a 50/50 or 70/30 mix.

For anyone that says these meth install are easy under the hood they are just as hard.

Only difference is your not snaking the lines under/through the car.

You still need to wire everything up appropriately in the same fashion.

The new BMS FSB WW kit is much easier to install then the trunk mounted CMGS kits, but still take some time. Not sure I could do one in 15min LOL

If you can find methanol locally, it's an even better deal.
Found VP racing M1 99.9% Methanol for $4.90/gallon.

Two biggest advantages of under hood meth install to me are:

1. Not having to lift the car, remove panels, and run lines

2. Being able to visually inspect everything in 2 min

I did a true WW tank tap, where I drilled into the tank at the bottom. My under-the-hood install took 8 hours (but could be done in roughly 4 now I know what I'm doing).

Here are pictures of my install:
