shortest hight short shifter?!

recently got a 6mt e90 and looking to get rid of the sad thing they call the stock shifter... have been leaning towards the rogue for the quality of their stuff but it not only do i want a shorter crisper shift i want it to sit lower. i know that the bmw SSK sits lower than stock but does the rogue because it looks just as tall if not taller than stock?!?!

i also plan on getting a ZHP weighted knob or round leather covered knob (also weight)

anyone have any hands on experience with this

oh and how come all vendors links for the rogue now lead to no where?!?!

UCC SSK is an alternative.

Heard lots of horror stories about their customer service and it taking FOREVER to get in... Plus I'm not feeling the idea of a metal pivot ball

If it sits higher and the throws are short, it's even better for shifting.

I would probably consider buying from a 3rd party vendor, e.g. ECSTuning. Their customer service is great, I am sure they would take care of you if something would arise.

ECSTuning: UUC SSK

It took over a month to get mine from UUC but it was the XI model.
In any case, they were constantly lying to me that they are shipping it out tomorrow.
However, it's height is adjustable and I'm positive that at the lowest point it's lower than stock by maybe an inch or two.
I have nothing to compare it besides stock and it's better than that as far as throw length goes.

I'm still waiting on a shift knob from UUC that I ordered in Sept... I'm not going to cancel the order until Sept of this year. Hopefully the order is filled before then, but i doubt it.

u don't want a short lever nor do u want a weighted knob - u are removing all the leverage.

I know a shorted lever will hurt slightly but how does a weighted Knob HURT leverage?!

The shorter lever is for better ergonomics. There won't be much leverage lost by the length

I have the UUC and it throws short but not by much..def feel shorter shift on the 1-2..but the nice thing is it gives the gear box a very mechanical feel and really shift confidently when racing..

The design on the UUC is actually pretty good..if use the Double sheer rod with it//it removes alot of the OEM shifter slop

Just get the ZHP E46 knob. It's on sale right now for $65. It's what I got about 3 1/2 years ago and it's been great for me. Here is the sale notice I got in my e-mail just today:

^^^ Glad yours lasted that long. Mine tore after a little more than a year of service. Its just a hunch, but I think it is weak because it is just one piece of leather wrapped tightly around the knob. There is no stitching on the knob to serve as a "release valve" and allow it to stretch and contract over time.

The B&M shifter is very short - shorter than a Miata, RX8 or S2000 shifter, but the effort is much higher. I tried it and returned it for a BMW SSK.

Did you adjust the height of the shifter? When I got mine it was extended all the way so it did feel the same as stock.
They also have a tall boy version which is even higher and I have no clue how to distinguish them if they sent you the wrong one.
