Wastegate rattle with Vishnu v5

Hi all, I am depending on your expertise. I have used the Vishnu to try and correct the waste gate rattle on my CPO 07 335i. I have been unsuccessful in trying all the necessary corrections available with the program. How likely am I to receive new turbos because of this problem? Have any of you with the Procede gotten new turbos because of not being able to correct this? Thanks in advanced.

Yes, I think there are people who got their OEM turbos replaced due to the excessive rattle. However, you can also adjust the actuator rod by loosening the nut and turn the rod 1-2 turns and that SHOULD solve the rattling issue.......

I'm speaking from experience.......

p.s. Don't forget to tighten the nut once the adjustment is made!

Do you have a DIY?
How can I adjust the WGs to avoid the rattling noise?

I appreciate all feedback, however, with a CPO is this really my issue to DYI? I have searched, but have come up with no real comparison. I want to add that I am mechanically inclined. But what would be the point if BMW has the obligation to fix this problem on the vehicle they backed 100% with my 52,000 mile CPO 335i?

I want to add that this is not Vishnu related, obviously. My title might have been misleading to those that didn't read the actual post. Thanks in advance.

From my understanding, the rattles is there before you install the V5 and you hope V5 can stop your turbo rattles by the setting. But turn out it still rattles no matter how you do with the setting, is that right? In this cause, just take out the V5 and let your dealer check if they can get you a pair of new turbos or a discount on that. If the rattles happen after the V5 install, take off the V5 and see if it's the tune problem.

I know for a fact it is not tune related. It rattled well before I owned the Procede. This is the exact question at hand. I am looking for owners that have not been able to correct the wastegate rattle with the Procede. I would like to get a feel for the owners who have received new turbos VS. The owners that just got a "fix" from SA's at BMW certified dealers. Someone please correct me if I wrong, but we do have internal wastegates, do we not? If so, this should most defiantly be a CPO BMW issue. I just need some sort of ammunition before I deal with the politics involved in working with BMW SA's. I just want to get the full potential of the BWM backed sales perk.

You have yours done already? Did you go to a shop or DIY?

I have not gone yet, as BMW SA's are natorious for saying "we cannot duplicate said problem". I would like to go in with the upper hand. I might add, without hinting the fact of me knowing of an existing problem. Let's face it, BMW, if they could help it, would opt out of fixing an otherwise engineering down flaw in loue of saving some money. Sadly enough, I think this goes for any major manufacture.

Many on e90post have gotten swapped turbos for wastegate rattle. Check to see if you can get the names of those dealers and then you can always refer to the fact that they've fixed it before. When I was troubled with the rattle, I simply called the dealer I was recommended and said that I had an issue which they recently fixed for another person, and after a quick check they changed my turbos without me having to argue for it.

Dealers vary. Most likely you will have to go through the normal procedures. This usually how it goes.

I did read somewhere that wastegate rattle is not covered under CPO. Turbos are, but some some of the parts connected to the turbos are not.

1. Software fix
2. Actuator replacement
3. Turbo replacement

Keep in mind, some have had turbos replaced and the rattle is still there. Just a bad design.

Thanks for the feedback. Anyone else had any other experiences and/or can shed some more light on the subject?

That is very reassuring, thanks for responding. For the most part I personally dealt with the whole "could not duplicate" issue before with faulty exhaust flanges, and only assumed this might turn into a giant tug-o-war.

My fix was to buy upgraded Rob Beck turbos

The V5 will not fix existing WG rattle, however, you do have the option to adjust the WGs. The readme to the 3-30 maps go into that, default WG is set to 90% and I set mine to 50% which got rid of the rattle.

to the op... I was one of those with the turbos replaced under warranty.. it sounds like the rattle occurs in 07's only.. 08's have a newer revision turbo with stronger wastegate acuators so when they replace the turbos, your getting the newer turbos the 2008-2010 models have.. no performance increase of course, but I can swear up and down I hear the the spooling twice as distinct.. i love it

UPDATE to my previous post.

I've successfully had my Turbos, Wastegates/Actuators replaced under CPO. Cost was $50 deductible.
