Dynapack Dyno - 412rwhp - FBO N54

DYNO TECH:

Here is one of my favorite dyno's, the Dynapack hub dyno. These are made in New Zealand and they are the preferred dyno for ECU mapping by many tuners and my personal favorite. The dyno consists of the "pods" that bolt to the actual hubs of the car and read WHEEL horsepower without the tire/roller interface. It is a slightly more accurate method of loading the car because you remove the tire/wheel interface which can introduce varying degrees of friction.

Our car dyno's on the Dynapack at around 400hp to the wheels. Weather has a measurable effect on the reading since this is a turbo car. Depending on the weather I have seen a low of 392hp to a high of 412hp. This is measured to the wheels. For some odd reason the graphs for Dynapacks are labeled as flywheel and I really wish they would change that in the software since it confuses too many people.

Here are some pictures of how the cars are loaded, aka "strapped" if this were a roller dyno. The unit you see here is a 4WD unit, hence four "pods", one for each drive wheel.

Relevant power mods:
N54
Berk Technology 3" Downpipes
Berk Technology Full Race Exhaust
GIAC Stage 1.5 (custom)
AEM Meth Injection
Spearco/Code3 Intercooler

Road Race Engineering... Man, they have been around for a while now. Used them back in the 90's on some of my early turbo 4g63 adventures...

Oil cooler: Yes, I have a single Mocal cooler in front of the intercooler. This is my third oil cooler setup and this one seems to work the best out of all of them.

Suspension mods:
KW Motorsport 2 way
M3 bars & arms
Velocity Motorcars camber arms & sway bar links

Have any of your oil cooler setups removed the stock thermostat?

I doubt it would probably very mininmal considering the air will pass through it and onto the IC, but the oil will be a lot cooler than normal is a great advantage for tracking

if the pros outweigh the cons, this is something i might want to look into

i've never seen an oil cooler placed this way on the n54 platform.

performance aside, it looks pretty badass too

Only thing I would worry about is daily street use, cause the fins on the oil cooler will get banged up by rocks etc. The IC fins are quite different and more resilient.

He's running meth, so in theory IATs shouldn't really matter.

If he wasn't running meth, then I think it would have some impact on IATs.
