Wow, that is pretty shniffffty. I don't know if I would ever bother using it, but still really cool! Just become friends with a dyno shop, haha.

I am but i just saw the article on it and thought it was cool. For just about $1200 you can have a realtime dyno.

Very cool, it uses the same technology cyclists have been using on their bikes to measure wattage. The cycling ones are accurate up to about 1-2%, so I don't see why this would be a different. Very cool stuff, especially for a guy like Shiv, who constantly tunes his car.

Considering vbox is within 1 mph in trap speeds and nearly dead on in ET, plus the easy installation and price, I think I'll pass. But just my opinion.

I dont think this is new technology. Ive seen one like this ( a lot bigger though) that had you connected the car directly to the dyno. I believe they used to be like 10k so 1200$ is not a bad price

And what they fail to mention is that fact that the driveshaft is already balanced and adding weight to it is doing nothing but hurting you. Gonna wait and watch as people bust driveshafts and wonder why.

Funny this engineer did think of that. It is really funny watching everyone jump on bandwagons whenever the aftermarket stuff is released. People instantly assume that the company has more engineers than the OEMS and that they did all sorts of testing on durability. Take a look at a driveshaft once in a while and see how small the balance weights are. Now tell me adding that much more weight to one end isn't going to effect anything. There is a reason I took multiple classes on machine/engine design. |

Haha, cool toy. If you had a full time track car. You could see how the car was performing and make adjustments to ensure you're putting down as much power as possible for the conditions. But for someone's daily driver? If you have that much money to burn you may as well buy something useful like a set of brass balls to hang from rear tow plug.

I work for a company who provides parts to OEMs and the sheer amount of testing to validate new products can take a year or more to develop. Do you really want to make the bet that aftermarket companies are doing the same type of testing? Just saying, buyer beware especially on stuff like this. |
