The M4 CSL is RWD. I’ve ditched my MPS4S for Cup2’s so I can’t do any test runs to see if it’s possible with the factory tires on my G82 X-Drive, but I will say it’s blistering quick to 60. I would say 2.8 is definitely achievable and repeatable with my setup even without launch control with warm tires and a good surface.

Don't be. The dogging on EPAS has always been greatly exaggerated and M2/3/4s have had front end bite turned to 11 since the F80 was introduced - it's just been improved on over the years and that's just gravy.

I really don't care if a turbo motor lugs badly when it's in the WRONG gear. God gave us 6 gears for a reason. It's a weird thing to get overly concerned about, isn't it?

TBF, I'm not a 0-60 guy. I care more that I can pivot this car into corners with confidence, hit the apexes, not get thrown by elevation changes, and exit clean. Especially on uneven public roads. It seems good at that, like its CLAR siblings.

The only thing that I'm worried about is conflicting opinions on electric steering feel and the front end responsiveness. But on that score, I'll probably need to see for myself.
Well said.

throttle house and straight pipes had the opportunity to give a bad review to the the last m2c and cs, but they loved it. thomas kept his OG M2 but still gave praise to those models. not something you commonly see on the forum as the OG guys like to bring up how their cars are so much lighter and 'pure'.

the guy who did the writing probably just pulled up the the m4 comp xdrive which is about 3900 pounds.

the g82 base m4, manual, buckets, cf roof, ceramics (lightest form).. is about 100 pounds LESS than the g87 m2 in the lightest form. mostly due to the extra money spent on the car to lighten things. the m2 is cheaper because it doesn't get the fancy light weight stuff in the body.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that these review cars are all sporting Michelins. I hope that bodes well for the rest of us.

Fingers crossed!

I'm very impressed with the reviews overall. I'm not in the market for this car right now, but I think the M2 remains the "halo" car for BMW fans who care about driver involvement. That is ironic compared to the 2000s when the BMW "halo" cars (e.g., E39 M5 - yes, I'm biased ) were the among the most expensive in the line-up.

While the styling, weight, and digital cluster (yes, I prefer analog or at least my M2C's facsimile of fully analog gauges) will be fodder for any number of videos and posts, I am so thankful that M has produced this car.

These reviews have all successfully done one thing, and that's made me a lot less patient.. delivery day cannot come fast enough.

Unfortunately, this is not exactly the case.
The 'dead' zone below 3k rpm with only 6 gears makes driving less exciting than you might think with these figures, in many circumstances 2nd is too long and 1st is too short, or 3rd is too long and 2nd is too short. That's why with 8 gears the car feels (and actually is) faster, because the drop after shifting is less and it's easier to keep the engine above 3k rpm, you can always have the right gear, which is impossible with long ratios.
I did not drive the G87, of course, but I did drive the manual G80 and I was rather disappointed, I really would have liked closer ratios.
I read that you have an E90 335i, that's a completely different engine (both N54 and N55) with impressive low end torque that can handle long ratios with no problem, the S58 is a monster but unfortunately doesn't do as well with long ratios.
My dilemma is that the ZF8 is not engaging enough but fits the engine perfectly, whereas the 6MT is much more engaging but makes the car too slow, the 7 speed DCT would be perfect

Throttle House is about fun, and these two seemed hungover and irritated the whole time. It was like watching an old married couple in a bad way.
Top gear is dead my friend, its been dead for yrs now.. !

On tonight's episode of G87 M2:

- Veliona is curious if there'll be CS or Competition.
- F87 fanbois complaining about the design, as if they own the F87 itself.
- Certain individuals acting like it weighs roughly the same as AMG SL 65.

And I ask a important question: is it worth the money?

This is just dead wrong. The lightest M2 is 3760. What M4 weighs that, let alone "100lbs" less?

M2 manual and M4 RWD manual have the same weight , or BMW is telling so in the homologation form
