Thanks a lot Yozh. I was talking to someone these days regarding the electric actuators. Is it true that they basically work on/off position for the vacuum actuators...just because it only has two wires per connector going to them ( pozitive and negative ) and there is no potentiometer that could graduately open or close the vacuum actuators.

Therefore the electric actuators can't control how much vacuum output is going out of them. For example if the inlet vacuum is 75mmHg the outlet could only be 75mmHg or 0mmHg...of course the opening and closing vacuum is controlled by the DDE. Basicaly like a M50 engine with VANOS...it goes fully advance or fully reterd on the camshaft depending on the RPMs....not like a M52tu or M54 where VANOS setpoints are always variable.

Hi, last month I had suddenly had the motor stopping and next day running only 5 cylinders.
I took a Diag : saw it was a bad injector and changed it but didn't see the lambda probe problem (no dashboard light and car running as before).

Well this week I did it BUT still having a particular problem, when I push hard (160-180 km/h) the engine stops suddenly and throws these codes :

Must say that despite the 4530 error running from the beginning I don't see nothing different about power except the suddent shutdown where I need to full stop in parking gear to restart from the first crank like if nothing happened before.
Opened the DDE Box, nothing suspicious in, the internal Box is dry, without dust.

I red in ISTA/D that all internal DDE error means = changing the DDE, is it right ?
If so, will look for a repair shop.

There could be many possibilities. If the car is tuned, it. Could be the tune, could be a crankshaft position sensor or rail pressure control issues. That is firvsudden shutdown. Usually 3EED/3EE0/3EE1 are generic electrical failure codes but do not necessarily point to a DDE. When MAFs fail they throw 3EE1 with another code.

Thanks for advice, would know before doing the wrong way.
First pic the 3EED happened with the third injector which the coil was broken, but still there until I changed the O² sensor, gone from there, so it was the lambda which generate the code.
What I 'm going to do is catching a session with ''Torque App'' and an OBD-BT to compare with ISTA/D what happens exactly before the engine shut off.

Hey Vlad, very helpful tests albeit only for some failure modes.

PCs operate over a PWM duty cycle range of 20 to 95% so testing with DC only may not catch a bad PC.

Have a look at this link. In the first graph, all three PCs yield similar measurements at top end of the graph but the bad PC measures very differently across the lower range.

Yozh - I read the very same ISTA notes for 4530.
In my case, code (and SES light) came up once - after starting (X5d) since 1 month being parked.
As of now it shows up in the history only (no SES) as not present/inactive.
Car has 100,000mi, I am original owner, engine-side everything is stock except new thermostat, addition of Provent 200 on CCV and swirl flap delete. EGR valve appears to be clean (no immediate reason to suspect CBU)

Questions:
1) do you or anyone else knows if inactive 4530 will prevent DPF regenerations?
2) should I consider any related maintenance or wait for problems to appear?
3) if yes on maintenance, should the order be as follows:
- vacuum lines
- vacuum pump (it sips tiny bit of oil)
- CCV & (red) boost hoses
?

All vac lines/pressure convertors/EV valve. You're in there, do it all at once. Clear 4530 and see if it comes back.

The FCP "KIT" came with 3 meters total of vacuum lines - blue, black, red, 1 meter each.
Is this really enough for the job (stock car, no ABC)?

I read few threads and some say 30 feet (9 meters), others - 8 feet were enough (2.5 meters)

Hello I have a power loss problem on m57 330d 2008 I have electronically actuated turbo not vacuum, and egr and swirl flaps have been removed. I have been told that the vacuum system could still be the cause? I’m getting 1.4 bar of boost. Only just joined the forum after reading endless other posts but can’t find an answer, and I can’t start my own post yet? Thank you.

8 ft definitely isn't enough for a 335d or x5d.

Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Special thanks to Yozh for great videos (I am still looking forward for "part3 - driver side")

checkpoint: E70 35d, 122,000mi and 12y of use.

I end up using 15 feet of silicone lines (passenger side), 1m of blue OE line and 1m of black OE line (driver side). I did not do output line for motor mounts and replaced approximately half of LP EGR line (ran out of vacuum lines at that point).

for stock NA E70 35d you need 6 valves/switched total:
- 2 pressure converters
- 3 switchover valves
- 1 LP EGR pressure converter

Passenger side:
- all lines were in acceptable condition: no cracks, the section over the turbo was still flexible (all 4 lines).
- pressure converters and switchover valve were fully functional
- I replaced it all anyways, kept factory valves ones as spare (for 335d)

Driver side:
- all lines were in excellent condition
- both LP EGR pressure converter and motor mount switchover valve failed.

Front (EGR Coller)
- valve was good, kept it intact, replaced lines

Vacuum Pump:
- replaced as well. manifold line was loose, factory pump was making noise

Result:
- all codes - gone
- vacuum pump noise - gone
- it now pulls nicely at all rpm ranges (in the past it was "slow" past 3K)
- the CBU from intake manifold cleaning is all over my garage
- after 1 week of no-code/no messages it now wants brake fluid service

Some TL;DR

- on E70, there is no need to remove cowl/firewall for this job.
- (I suspect BMW of SF) used intake studs guide from 750i - they shaved it "to fit" and used RTV to hold lower rubber seal in place. I was lucky to notice it before it (could off) gone down lower port #6.
