i am curious what you guys did with the lug nuts? (cant really tell from most of the pictures)

1. use OEM lug nuts (black) w/ lock
2. use BBS silver lug nuts (no lock)
3. use 3 BBS silver lug nuts + black OEM lock

i went with option 3, but it looks odd. however, i dont want my rims stolen

High-end wheel locks

It's the same for all later 3-series BMWs:

Thread M12 x 1,5 | 60° | length 26,4 mm | head dia. 17 mm

Another good option for wheel locks in silver is McGard SL (ultra high security). They appear to be only avail. in Europe, but you can buy them on Ebay from the UK for a lot less than the Dual Phase.

From McGard German website (in English):

http://www.mcgard-europe.de/englisch/slbolzen.htm

US source (but expensive):

http://www.beastpower.com/p/bmw/mcga...-BOLTS-STD-255

We need part number 27179SL for standard length. Longer ones are avail. if you have spacers.

From a UK newspaper: A week ago I bought a BMW 5-series M Sport and have already been a victim of thieves who have stolen two wheels even though the car had BMW locking wheel nuts. The thieves must have had the right key for these as the nuts were left behind and were undamaged. I would like to purchase new locking wheel nuts and would appreciate some advice on which make and type to buy. — GS from Uxbridge

A: We’d suggest you try McGard Ultra nuts, which are Thatcham-approved and have won awards for their theft-resistance. BMW itself is in the process of changing to McGard products and from next month they should be available from BMW dealers. In the meantime there’s a set available for your car, reference number 27179SL, priced at £34.99 including carriage from Exclusive Tuning (0870 3000 136, www.exclusivetuning.com).

Given the price of replacing some wheel and tyre combinations (often upwards of £500 a corner), some owners fit two locking nuts per wheel.

It is important to remember, however, that a determined thief can take wheels from any car, so remember to park in well-lit areas and keep the key well hidden in the car.
