Very nice and certainly something to take the edge off a bad situation.

Your other half will definitely think of it as money wasting lol, but we think of it as attempting to obtain perfection (in our eyes of course ).

On another note, the m3 arms have arrived, and like everyone else i can also see the area where they have ground off the M logo. Can't wait to get it all fitted.
Everyone has differing tolerances to NVH so although some may feel they will be harsh, etc others will not bat an eyelid.

Agree with what you've said re obtaining perfection

All m3 arms are here and waiting to be fitted now. Will have a chat with my local indy this weekend about the subframe bushes install. Can't wait to feel the difference. I'm hoping it will also cure the rear going towards the left when launching. Another thing i also thought that it might help with is a shimmy from front to rear i get when stopping. But the main thing is i want the rear solid and planted all the way through the corner.

Hey mate really good write up and thinking of having this done, have a 335 mapped with a DPF delete, will the sports cat help with the DPF smell?

I've never smelt a dpf deleted car without a sports cat, so can't really say how much the sports cat helps. I can however tell you that i can still smell a sort of fuelly smell, its not a big smell but still present. Hasn't ever bothered me as its quite nice

Mo, what Meth Kit would you go if you were to opt for Meth later down the line and would you recommend doing this with simply a remap?

I would go for Aquamist everytime. They are UK based and offer the best meth kits, their injector design is better than the rest.

I think if you get the meth done, it would be a good idea to get your remapper to have a look at the map, just to ensure all is ok. I'm not entirely sure what effects it will have to the dpf though.

Love the stages you are taking this through. Like yourself and many others I too am not satisfied with the drive from the e9s. Its not bad as such (for normal driving)...its just not great. Hard to explain exactly what it is but all i know is when I jump in my mrs e46 I feel more at home.

be good to hear your feed back on the m3 arms and more so the rear subframe bushes

Thanks mate. The handling is not so great on a stock car. It's all geared towards the soft side due to the hard run flat tyres. But i'm hoping the arms and bushes will make a decent improvement. Might have to wait until after christmas to get them fitted though.

I think you'll be pleased with the M3 components personally. They will tighten everything up and stiffen it up but not to the point of being unduly uncomfortable or detriment.

Been really quiet here with xmas coming up and spending a lot on boring household stuff

So to get the front and rear M3 arms fitted (tension strut, wishbone, upper link and guide rods), along with fitting the solid AKG subframe bushes, it will cost me £550 plus alignment Is that about the right price?

Its with my local garage, who never charge me extra if it takes longer, and actually reduce the invoice when it is done quicker than quoted.

Thinking to get them done maybe next month...

Just a question on reliability on the tune, any problems at all with the car after the tune?
And in particular, how's the gearbox holding up?
I'm thinking of maybe changing the 330d to a 335d and get the same kit.

Unsure on how long the subframe bushes will take to do but the front M3 arms took me about 3 hours to fit but that's in my garage and having not done them before so was a little bit of 'taking my time' in there. Rears could be something similar and then the subframe bushes on top of that. But with access to a proper ramp and having done them before then in theory should be a lot quicker. So depends on their hourly rate really. That's about 9 hours'ish at £60/hr.

Done around 9k since install, been to south of Spain and back, no problems at all, apart from some boost leaks, which im 100% sure was related to some botched repair work from a BMW dealership. Gearbox is fine, nice and silky how it should be. I did replace the fluid at around 50k, and will probably replace again at 100k. Touchood it will stay like this.

Only thing i would say, the car's handling needs to be improved tremendously with the increase in power. I'm thinkin of adding a diff brace too, as recently i'm sure i experienced wheel hop...

Their hourly rate is 65+vat, but i dont pay the vat

Sounds about right then, i did think to leave the bushes out, but i might as well get it all fitted and aligned in one go. And then something else will come up lol

Defo get it all done if you're doing it I say! You'll only regret it after!

Not sure on the price but you could look at it as £110/corner and then the same for subframe bushes...so about 1h45min each.
I've not done any of these jobs myself so cant say for sure but I am thinking the price is slightly a bit too high. I think an hour each corner as they'll have the car on a lift and in theory it should just be bolt off and bolt on and then say another hour for the subframe bushes based upon what I read.

But if you are saying he'll reduce the price based on actual hours then you're ok.

Yeah i think i will regret it after, at least if theres still some handling issues after i'll know its something else Wife wants a new 50" tv, which will cost the same, so i'll have to argue my case lol.

From what i've read the subframe bushes certainly take longer than one hour, i think you may be referring to the inserts? They are a much quicker job. I've asked around and have been quoted 4-5 hours on the subframe bushes alone!

But i trust my local indy, in the past they have reduced the invoice from their quote, which is so rare these days. Usually garages turn around and say "it took 2 hours more so pay more" Also i once went in complaining of brake noise, they took the brakes off and said all is ok. It was just the noice from the slotted discs. Didn't charge me any labour, but i would have been happy to pay if they did.

Yeah I was talking about the inserts and not the full bushes so I suppose it about right then. I'd get it done asap...tell the mrs these parts on the car are worn and preventing you from driving in a straight line...also severely hampering your brakes! lol Would that work as an excuse?

Well it seems i have given up (lost) and we will be buying a new 50" LED TV, along with a large wooden tv cabinet and a dishwasher Might as well get a PS4 as well now. So the arms and bushes will have to wait.

In other news i went on a business trip to Newcastle and the car just keeps on giving. The amount of low end torque is crazy, and at motorway speeds it just wants to keep flying away. A little press of the throttle and its flying!

You sir have set them priorities straight! As said, graphics on PS4 are LEAGUES ahead of the last gen and can only imagine how they will be with such a big TV!

Enjoy!
