I think you need another programmer to correctly flash the atmega.

You might consider upgrading and in doing so registering the device so that is effectively becomes a genuine xprog. Look here: http://www.eldb.eu/index.php?route=p...&product_id=57

Also, other things which effect the 5.55 are power supply issues and virus / malware on your PC.

Worth checking...

Bad chip?

Hi,
first thanks for this great thead!

I have a fried FRM 3 AHL: first i had problems with the rear fog light always on, and license plate light not working. Now its dead, no obd, no lights.

1st attemp to repair with UPA USB programmer.
I was able to read the EEPROM, but it was imposible to program correctly:
  • When I erased (0xFF all the memory) and then read back some sectors were erased ok, but some had random information.
  • When writed good eeprom, it always failed at the middle of the process, some data was written, the other were random.

2nd attemp Xprog 5.55 clone, modified to 5.51 version:
  • Similar errors erasing and writting new eeprom.
  • And very often the Xprog failed with the message "unknown device Part id: XXXXXX", showing a different id each time.

Lastly I lifted the Chip and soldered into a 144 LQFP adaptor, then connected to the xprog, but in this way it doesn't talk to xprog. I realise that it needs the onboard oscilator to work property. With EXTAL and XCLKS pins doesn't work either.
It needs to be on the board or there is another way?

My thought is that the chip is broken and there is no way to repair (or what may am I doing wrong?).

I bought a replacement chip that will arrive in 2 weeks, If i write Pflash, and eeprom it would work as the original?

Thanks

From what you describe it does sound like a faulty chip.

Are you 100% sure your connections are good?

I think so. The truth is that it was a bit harder to do a good solder in the BDM pin, but I did it like 10 different times to be sure it wasn't the problem.

probably you are coding with expert mode which defaults settings,
then you have to manually enable it (or from idrive)

I have only either coded in expert mode or FSW PSW MAN mode and I don't have IDrive

Could you please tell me what mode I have to code and write to the modules in because the angel eyes upon unlock/welcome lights have just gone off again and I keep having to code again using the same TRC/MAN file!!

FRM3 EEE "FSTAT register error"

Hi guys!

First many thanks for this great thead!

A try to repair FRM3 ZUSB 9224592-01 with UPA-USB programmer. No OBD communication,no lights.. 

My programmer can read from 9S12XEQ384:
“Emulated EEPROM”
“D-Flash user partition”
”All D-flash (32kB)”
and “All Memory (64kB)”
“All Memory” is only 64kB not 384kB,and this place can not be program by UPA,only read.
I not found P-Flash location.
I was able to partition 4kB(16x256byte) EEE,but when I erased EEE and then read back some sectors were erased ok, but some had random.
When writed good EEE dump,it always failed at the middle of the process, some data was written, the other were random.
UPA said: FSTAT register error
I try to lift RESET pin, nothing happend.

Is this possible, must I have first to write a good P-Flash dump and then can I write EEE correctly?
Or chip faulty?

Please help me, what i do wrong?

Hi guys,
I don't have Xprog, so I sent my Frm3 to a guy for repair, now I have a problem when I press the fog light button, the cornering lights illuminate instead of the fogs and and I have another problem with the interior buttons lights being too dim and an error in inpa about a potentiometer defect knowing that I don't have a potentiometer to adjust the intensity, it's done from the BC stalk.
Car is 328i sedan, MY 2010, Bixenon AHL
Frm3 original part nb 61359224604, checked with Inpa after repair and it shows 9224618.
Googling this nb, it shows that it's for E70 X5.
My question is can I fix this issue myself using Winkfp or I should send the module again to the guy to fix it?

Thanks
