My first BMW was a white 1991 325i coupe. If I am not mistaken it was an E30.
I tired of the hardtop quickly and in 1994 I purchased a 325i Samoa Blue/ navy top convertible and it had light grey leather seats. This was the color combination for the 325i convertible shown that year at the NY Auto Show. IIRC that was the E36. To this day I still remember the comments from people who wanted to know the name of the color as there weren't many Samoa Blue cars on the road. Last edited by Westside Guy; 01-20-2023 at 01:09 PM.. The 1st BMW I ever drove was a BMW K1200RS motorcycle that I bought new in 1996. Turned out to be a lemon; always leaked out of the front engine cover. Traded it in w/in a year for a Ducati 998 which was a much better motorcycle in all respects. Sold the 996 a few years later but still regret doing that.
The 1st BMW car that I ever drove was a Z3 that belonged to a woman that I dated briefly. She acquired it from her ex-husband after the divorce. LOL! After that the only BMW that I've ever driven was the 2008 335i E90 that I bought about 10 years ago and still own now. I've put more $ in this car than any other car I've ever owned in terms of repairs/upgrades but I enjoy driving it and have no plans to sell it any time soon, partly because I could never get the $ that I "invested" in it back out of it but also because I simply enjoy looking at and driving it. BTW, I've owned my 2002 Toyota MR2 over 16 years and I've also owned by 2002 Ford F250 4x4 Longbed 7.3L Diesel over 12 years. So, keeping cars that I "like" and enjoy driving is nothing new to me.

First BMW I drove? The MY04 of the following: E65 750i, E46 325i, E60 520i, E85 Z4 2.5i.
It was a BMW Test Drive Day and I could ask for the key of any car at the dealership. As for my own first BMW, it was most disappointing that I couldn’t get a used manual E92 325i coupe back in 2014 as my honeymoon car; I was an hour late to to the dealer and literally saw the buyer signing the docs. But a few weeks later I was lucky enough to snag a cheaper E86 Z4 Coupe. And that turned out to be the better honeymoon car. |

First BMW I drove was a E36 320i. I bought it when I was 27 - it was my ‘first’ German car having owned Preludes, Accords, Integras through high school and university.
It was a fun ride - those old E36/E46 3 series were rock solid and so much fun to drive. |

the first BMW I drove was my father's car, an e39 sedan bought back in 1997, which is still sitting in my garage.
