Now that these have been out for several days, I think it would be interesting and educational for the other V3.1 users to see what you guys are running for Map1 and Map2...

If you're not running the defaults, post up the following that's working good for you under Map1 and Map2:

Boost Limit:
User Torque:
1st Gear Torque:
2nt Gear Torque:
Upshift Softening:

Post up just your basic drivetrain/mods, Progman/MSD, octane, and location or ambient temps. Example:

6MT, FMIC, catted DPs, pre 29.2, 91 oct, Chicago 50degF

Exclamation

Though I downloaded all that was needed to be downloaded for the V3->V3.1 upgrade apparently can't uncompress the file into the Procede folder already existing in my pc, if I try to open with WinZip the compressed files once downloaded my pc displays "cannot open the file, it doesn't appear to be a valid archive, if you download this file please try download it again". Dustin suggested to wait for the actual non-beta release of the upgrade, any of you guys who succeeded to upgrade can help me out (even in pm)?

Thanks!

I think I got the update. My car used to peel out really good before. Now I can only sometimes get the wheel spin. I have the toyo t1r rears. Should I set to 85 then? I want to get the vorsteiner cf hood

Just as long as you leave all the default user adjustables alone, nothing has changed, mapping-wise between the v3.0 9-5-08 maps and any of the current maps (race gas map excluded). So don't go looking for changes that aren't there

DAMMMMN shiv I got my car updated! I downloaded winrar and it worked uncompressing the zip folders. I messed with the settings and I kind of went by the other 535i guys settings.

If I go higher on my shift settings does it make it shift faster? I tried out the lag fix maps and wow does it worK !!! I havent felt this low end grunt in so freaking long. THANKS SO MUCH! I didnt even have to use my sport button all the way home. Its so fastt!! Theirs almost no lag anymore. I cant believe this is beta

Also, how does the wastegate duty percent work? I dont get how much my car used to be before the update ? I heard something today under hard accereration.. Never heard it before.

My torque settings are at 84 percent and the 1st is at 85 2nd 95 ? good?

Shiv,

So if say I set vallet to "0" or off and I choose map 1 to be "ON" and map 2 to be "OFF" which does it default to when I initially turn on the car? I'm assuming map 1?

Above is from Shiv's original post. The off button map is the default at start-up, map 2 for your choices above.

I would go with Shiv's suggestions from his post on Page 1:

Wastegate Duty Cycle Limit
This parameters defines the maximum allowed duty cycle when running at maximum load. This can protect your turbos agains over-spooling in likelihood of a boost leak or running too high of a User Torque value in high altitude (or high temperature) conditions. For reference, a stock car, at sea level operates at 35-40%. A tuned car running at 14psi can routinely operate at 45-55%. It is our suggestion to avoid running over 60% if turbo longevity is a concern. As such, we suggest setting this value to 65% to prevent false triggering. When triggered, the PROcede will induce a valet mode that can be reset only by cycling the ignition OFF and ON. 30-100%

Suggested Settings
If you have an 6AT, try adjusting the Upshift Softening value. The bigger the number, the easier it will be on the transmission. However, the bigger the number, the slower the acceleration. For reference, previous 6AT v3.0 maps had this value internally set to 20%. Try anywhere from 0-50% and see what you like the best. Personally, i think 10-15% works best for daily driving. For all-out racing purposes, set it to 0%.

Update:
Just posted an updated firmware file (pro01v03beta39) below. It's virtually the same as the original v3.1 firmware (pro01v03beta38) but with the following changes (as requested by you guys):

1) “Current Map Selection” will now “0” when valet mode is active. Should prove to be useful ☺

2) When/if valet mode is triggered by overboost/excessive WG duty %/etc., the speed limit component of the valet mode is not made active. So no problems will setting the valet speed limit nice and low since you don’t have to worry about ever triggering it unexpectedly on the highway.

3) Lagfix has been tested and ready for general use (for those who have the laggy BMW software update ONLY). If you don't have that update, running the lagfix feature will result in boost instability and a possible limp mode. To verify if you are "eligible" for the Lagfix feature, you will need to monitor wastegate duty cycle in the PROcede software. This is represented by the Debug Word 3 parameter (not to be confused by Debug BYTE 3). If you aren't monitoring this already, it's easy to do. Just to go Datalog Setup, select "Debug Word 3) from the list of available channels and move it over to the right column (logged channels). Then go to Datalog Parameters and set it up as such:

Units: DC%
DPS (decimal points): 0
Raw min/max: 0/65535
Conv min/max: 0/100

With the car running and fully warmed up, look at the Debug Word 3 value. If you have the lag problem, you should see it in the 10-20% range. If you don't have the lag issue, it should read 40-60% higher. This lagfix feature should only be activated if you are in the 1st category. Once again, if you activate this feature without having the lag issue, you will have problems (boost instability and possible limp modes).

Up Next…
1) Throttle Response User Adjustments (1 to 5)
This feature will control the relationship between boost rise and throttle activity. Set at maximum (5) boost rise, with respect to time, will be aggressive and ideal for enthusiasts who demand maximum throttle response. Set at minimum (1), boost rise, with respect to time, will be more gradual and smooth. Find the sweet spot for you needs and enjoy!

Cheers,
shiv
P.S. The maps posted below are the same 10-17 maps that were posted in this thread. They are the maps that have the optional lagfix mapping.

Shiv,
What number would you say throttle response has been for previous maps? That way we have some kind of comparison. Thanks.
