I will put my .02 in on these. This is no way to put down Jlevi as they have always done me well in the past. This is the ONLY issue I have ever had with them and I hope that someday they will make it right.
The first disappointment was the months I had to wait for these tail lights. Once I received them, that is when the real probelms began. I have been running these for a while. I was out of the country for some time so I didn't get to test them to their fullest until now. I have had nothing but issues in the cold winters here in Minnesota. I have sent an email to Jlevi, but I never heard back from them. At first I was having horrible flicker issues when first released. After talking to them, they had my buy the "anti-flicker" kit to resolve the issues. It seemed to work for about a couple weeks and then back to flickering. This was before the winter cold came in. Once the cold weather arrived, the blinkers started to blink fast on cold days. Once they get warm enough, they stop the fast blink. I would say that 40% of the time I am driving, they are blinking fast when turning. Now that it is starting to get relativly warm again (40 degrees) they seem to be having an easier time blinking normally, but the flickering is still the same as it was before. Honestly, this is a huge disappointment and I wish I would have kepy my DEPO smoked tail lights as I never had an issue with them. These LED tail lights have one of the best looks I have seen, however, the functionality of them is sub-par. I am hoping to hear back from them someday, but until them I am just going to take my business elsewhere. It's a true disappointment as I had gotten quite a bit from them already. I can get video and pictures for people that are interested.

I believe there is nothing wrong with your LEDs. Try swapping the 2 connectors (inner/outer bulb connectors) and you will see the inner panel lighting up instead of the outer, which means both panels are working fine. I encountered the same problem as you when i first installed mine, but after observing other E90s on the road with original filament tail lights, i realised that is actually how the brake lights are wired, i.e. only the outer filament bulbs will light up when the brakes are applied. I then re-installed my original tail lights and did a little experiment. When the brakes are applied only the outer bulbs will light up. The inner bulb will only be activated when the outer bulb is removed. So my conclusion was the outer bulbs are the main bulbs and the inner ones act as back-up bulbs if the outer ones are blown. Back to the LEDs, I disconnected the resistor pack for the outer panel... and walaaa.... both panels light up when the brakes are applied. But the problem is I get a bulb error message on the dash everytime i start the car, which is kinda irritating. It must have detected the blown outer brake light bulbs (with no resistor pack) and activated the inner bulbs, thus throwing the error message on the dash. I eventually decided to re-wire the Depo LED tail lights to get around this bulb error message. I wired both LED panels to tap power from the outer bulb connector and wired the inner bulb connector directly to the supplied resistor pack. It now works perfectly for me with both LED panels lighting up and no bulb error message on the dash. I have been driving around with these for the past 3 months with no issues so far. I also bought the anti-fickle modules with my order just in case, but never had the chance to use them as i did not encounter any LED fickles on my '06 E90. Hope this helps. |

I bought a set of LED tail lights from Jlevi almost a year ago. They were driving me crazy. I called Jlevi and Jonathan was very helpful. I finally drove down there and we got it sorted out. Took a little while, some extra patience but ended up working out fine. Good customer support.

I have installed all parts (include 2 resisters for each side) correctly and no service light is on and all lights function well EXCEPT only the bottom outer LED block is "on", while the bottom inner LED block is "off". (Both side are the same). I did some experience for different connections, and I confirm both LED blocks can be "on" while exchange the connection....so...both LED blocks are okay to function. And unplug the outer resister wire, then both LED blocks (outer & inner) can be "on" but with annoying service light comes out. So...other than skip's method as quoted to do something re-wiring (I am not expert in doing this...), is there any method to have both LED blocks "on" without service light comes out? Thanks! |

Wow, oh my gosh, I feel like such a fool.
Not only did I pay more for non-smoked DEPOs, and they don't come with the anti-flicker set! Not to mention, contrary to my initial belief, smoked looks quite good on black! Arghh! Jlevi, you don't happen to do swaps and charge an idiot-fee, do ya? Hahaha! |

Okay I installed the anti-fail kit and all is well, though i'm having three issues but the ones specifically regarding the headlight unit, i'm experiencing the slight LED illumination delay when the brakes are pressed as the bulbs turn on. I'd be okay with it if it were symmetrical but it seems to be tilting to the right when it does it haha.
Aside from that, pretty good! |
