I just got back from Cobb's "First Thursday" event here in Plano and was lucky enough to get my car on the dyno to show the results from the tune.
As previously mentioned, I've been running the Stage1 93-octane map on my car for the past three days and am very happy with the results on the street but anxious to see how they looked on the dyno. My car is a 2010 E92 steptronic with 7300 miles on it and bone-stock right down to the paper air filter. With the tune alone, we picked up 53 HP and 98 ft-#! My last numbers were 311/384, plotting to ~6500 RPM. Peak power arrived right at 5000 RPM and torque peaked early at around 2800 RPM, holding at or above 360 ft-# through 4000 RPM. These are great results through an automatic! The wideband A/F reading looked really nice too, holding steady at around 11.5:1 from 3200 - 6500 RPM. Cobb uses a Mustang 4-wheel dyno which differs greatly from the inertia-based Dynojets we're used to seeing plots from. The Mustang is a better dyno for tuning applications and calculates its numbers differently from a Dynojet. I can't say how my results translate to a 2-wheel 248C but I think my next set of mods (downpipes and intercooler) will follow a few pulls on a local Dynojet just so you can get familiar with the numbers. |

I know it is a while off yet, and it has been asked before, but it didnt get an answer from the COBB team, but any chance that you will be doing something for the 1 series M coupe in the future? Since it is a N54.

What I don't like about this Cobb thing is that they seem to emphasize the hardware side of things (AccessPORT) instead of emphasizing the power gains, the maps, driveability, how they manage to make big power with low boost, etc. I would never buy a tune for the auxiliary stuff it comes with.

LOL, and here I feel like it's going to be forever between the N55 Support for you guys and the Support for the N55 X5/535 crowd... Our ECU's are programmed differently than the N55 135/335's. Probably something to do with the 8-speed tranny's we use, among other things

Did the "Thursday Event" happen? Any cool vids or pics? What'd you have on the dyno?

I did read the thread...there was a big difference in 135 and 335 numbers. I believe the 135 made less than the 335 (however I can't find that dyno now) COBB found a calibration change and they were to redyno the 135 and hence...
But yet there is still such a big difference. Previously I think the 135 made even less than the 335 on the dyno now it's flip flopped. |
