He's probably saying this so you don't feel so bad....but if it's true..

LMFAO....

I just heard form one of our local customers who has been waiting 3 weeks. He called the BBB and the BBB called BMW. The Customer Service people at North America called him back and said they would cover his payments, install the extra oil cooler and if the pump was not in in 2 weeks would agree to replace his car! Service is getting better but I guess you have to turn the heat up first

Yeah the only way I got mine was because the dealer took one off another car.
Service Manager told me that he can't even get lead time for a new one yet. I guess the problem is THAT bad

Actually, now that I have a 335i loaner, it aint all that bad... they are covering my payments, and I get to drive a free car that is pretty close to what my car was, and its easier to justify burning a little rubber...

That's awesome that you got a 335 loaner. Throw a PROcede on that baby and drive it like you stole it. Every time my DTC kicks in and pulls the throttle on wet roads my heart skips a beat thinking its the FP dying. Knock on wood.

13537537320 is the part number listed in the parts catalog. I don't think there has been a part number change.

Thats still the old part. I call it version 1 since its still the unrevised pump. If they come out with pump version 2, a.k.a. the new and revised pump, they'll give it a different part number.

Got the reduced engine power notification last night. It was after an hour and a half of stop and go traffic. Went full throttle in fourth from a low RPM. Drove off fwy, turned off engine, waited a few seconds, turned it back on, and no warning.

Started car this morning without problem and drove 80 miles fine. Haven't had any issues with delayed starts that some have complained of.

Any thoughts? Hot car plus full throttle in low gear...maybe it missed the boost target? BTW 6700 miles so far.

I had the engine malfunction notification appear 2 days before i noticed the long starts, lack of power, engine vibration. And yes, after each restart the engine notifcation was gone but after driving the car abit it would re-appear.

Congrats!
I wanted more and more but in the end, I just told myself to refrain. It's really not my dealers fault that this happened and they have been really nice about it.
I am getting payment, floormats and hopefully the newer Progman installed so I can search by POI. I'm happy.

Today marked the 1 month and three days my car was in the shop. And unexpectedly I got a call from my SA saying that my fuel pump arrived already and my car's ready for pick up! Wow! The day the pump arrived, the day they installed it on my car! I must say I'm very happy with how my dealer did their best to get my car up and running as quickly as possible. It just took them a real long time to get the pump for me but I know that's not their fault and many people out there have been waiting for it longer! Sorry you guys out there, I know how it feels to be without your car!

When we took out the high pressure fuel pump, I was able to snap some pictures of it and was able to analyze the pump.

This is Part #13537537320. The high pressure fuel pump system.

On the fuel pump system, the volume control valve controls the fuel delivery pressure in the rail. The volume control valve is activated via a pulse-modulated signal (PWM signal) from the DME control unit. Depending on the PWM signal, various throttle cross-sections are released and the necessary fuel supply volume for each engine load is set. In addition, there is the possibility to reduce the pressure in the rail. If a fault in the system is diagnosed, like a failure in the high pressure sensor, the current to the volume control valve is cut off. The fuel then reaches the rail via a so-called bypass valve. Hence the reason why our cars kick into limp mode and the car can still run but struggle.

Sadly this is the best explanation I can give so far and it still doesn't really explain what EXACTLY is causing the failure on the pump. But hopefully this sheds some light to those stuck completely in the dark about why their cars kick into limp mode and struggles when the high pressure pump fails.

I know that I shouldnt complain since I have had my car back for a week now (I waited 4 weeks priors for the pump) but I dont think its fair that they are replacing pumps with the new version while mine still has the bad one that I cant trust. They better recall this part!!!

I am going, it appears, into battle with mine. For you, I was told this yesterday. "We tried putting a pump in from a May car. It sputtered and died"???? Not in my car though.
"We are now getting word that the "all new" pumps are on the way". I just don't know wtf to think anymore.

this is friggin' retarded.
Mine's been in the shop for a week.
Seems a 4 week wait is what they told me.

If it's a 5 week wait for another pump that 'may' blow, that's just rediculous.

I better be getting the 'all new' pump, or this car will certainly be swapped out for another car......most likely another brand........ AMG ? 997 ?
