Car Dvd Player D5114ce

Hi all i purchased this unit from Hong Kong and after i installed it which is very easily done, i was quite impressed with it, sound and power was better than i had expected, satnav works well too, one thing that i was not happy with was that when on hands free phone via bluetooth the other person found it hard to hear me, and i have not yet figured out if i can turn the Mic up or add an ext Mic, one other problem that i had was, although steering wheel functions work well as does no seatbelt warning, i found that i had no reversing sensor warning, i contacted the seller in HK and they were very helpful, they told me that they could fix this problem and asked me to return my Canbus, which i have done, and am just waiting on the replacement, after i get my new canbus back i will update this post, i have attached a couple of pics of the unit in my car.

Hi aliennet, thanks a lot for your review! Glad to hear you like it our unit! And can't wait to see your nice installation pics!
Btw, you can also post them to our Vid/Pics channel here:
https://www.eonon.com/channel_2013E-Oscar.aspx

You may have the chance to become a honored winner too! Cheers!

About the bluetooth issue, you can try as follows:
1. Check if there's something block the hole of microphone.
2. After connecting the bluetooth, you have to both make or receive calls by operating in DVD player. Do not use your mobile again to make or receive calls.
3. Use another mobile phone to test.

Hope it helps! If you still can't work it out, you can continue getting in touch with the customer service and give you other solutions. We will all try our best to help you and provide you steady after-sale service!

This issue may because the car computer has the power control, after using for a long time, it will be cut off automatically. It’s normal to see in the BMW cars, since our Hong Kong store has met such issue while installing D5114C too.
The solution for this issue is, connect the BATT wire of the unit and fuse together to the battery directly, just like the way you install the amplifier.
If you still can’t work it out, please kindly ask the local installer to see if there’s special installation method.
Instead of wiring it to the battery, is it possible to connect it to a fuse slot with a fuse tap?

Hi HuyT, I've consulted our tech, to make the auto memory function work, it's necessary for the the BATT wire to be supplied with power, so connect the BATT wire to the battery is the right way.
And a tip is, you'd better add a fuse between the BATT and battery to avoid the short circuit.

Hope it helps!

Ok so I too did have the problem where all the settings, such as date, time, radio channel, etc. were not working. So this is what I did:

First, the cable already has a fuse, so I unplugged the BATT cable (yellow) as marked with a red circle below. That connector removed is like a long spade connector (I don't know the right name for it).

Next I made a wire approximately 300mm long. One end is crimped with a male bullet connector and the other end, a female spade crimp.

I then connected the female spade crimp onto the connection that I just pulled out before and crimped them together. The male bullet was then connected onto a Fuse tap blade, just like this one:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Wire-Tap-...ht_2416wt_1202

Then I plugged the fuse tap into the spare slot as show in the diagram below.

I chose this way over wiring straight to the battery because the fuse box is much closer to than unit the battery is. Now everything such as setting saves when I turn the car off then on again, and the unit now automatically turns on and off with the car.

So for the two guys posting on her (thanks btw!) how would you rate this unit over factory? I have the BMW Professional and just worried to move from OEM to an aftermarket. BMW seems to be VERY picky (the car itself) - giving error codes when changing a light to LED, etc. I've never owned a car this particular - so just worried about the cons when installing this.

What would you two guys rate this unit on a scale from 1-10; with 10 being outstanding and 1 being crap.

How about the install? How would you two rate that on the same scale?

Thanks Guys!

Hi HuyT, congtrats for working it out, and the unit can auto memorize now. Good job!

About the automatically turns on and off with the car, this is because you have connected the BATT wire to your car battery finally, it's normal. Just enjoy using!

Hi WhiteonWheat, thanks a lot for joining our group buy! OK your name is already added to the list!

About the installation instruction, you can download the user manual from our website to know some basic wiring.

And you can also refer to the installation process photos taken by our factory:
http://www.eonon.com/photoShow/pic1941mnoD5114C.html

Hope they can give you some clues! If you're still not sure, you can go to the installation shop.
You'll love the unit, cheers!

I don't know if I'm one of the two, but after setting it up properly, I absolutely love it and was worth the amount I paid for it. Keeping in mind I bought an older model (D5114a) and installed it into a 2005 320i E90. No error codes for me.
I upgraded from whatever this headunit is called:

As for installation, I had absolutely no prior knowledge when it comes to automotive electricity wiring. Everything was pretty much plug-n-play as stated by eonon. You'll only have problems if you are colour-blind.

I'd give this unit a 7/10. Only thing that still bothers me is, when I exit the GPS software to turn off the navigation voices and such, it would automatically be turned back on again when i restart the car, so the navigation voice be played while listening to the radio and such.

Hi HuyT, glad to hear you like our unit and thanks for your detailed review! You know you have the 2nd hand unit, and D5114 is an old version but still works very well in your ride, cheers!

About the GPS voice issue you have mentioned, I've asked our tech, actually it's easy for you to disable the GPS auto start function, just don't select the "Start wether run nav software automatically" option as the below picture shows is OK. Please have a try!

And if it works, would you like to give your unit a higher score, maybe 9 or 10? Thanks a lot!
